QUARTERSTAFFS

In its simplest form, a quarterstaff is simply any long piece of wood. But a well crafted and properly enchanted staff is a powerful weapon which all classes can learn how to use.

Cleric's Staff +3

Properties:

Requires: 5 Strength.

Location:

Dropped by one of the Rakshasa in Adratha's hut at 12 in the Druid Grove after you reveal Adratha's true identity.
Given to you by Master Verthan at 3 in Faldorn's Hut if you are a Druid, when you challenge for leadership of the grove.
Sold by the Temple of Umberlee at 12 in Brynnlaw.
Found in the room at 7 on Level 2 of the Asylum Dungeon.

Throne of Bhaal:
Sold by the bartender at 3 in the Tankard Tree.
Dropped by Nyalee at 5 in the Forest of Mir.

Watcher's Keep:
Dropped by the Tieflings at 29 on the Maze Level of Watcher's Keep.
Dropped by Aesgareth's party at 35 on the Maze Level of Watcher's Keep.

Sold by the Black Market Thief at 15 in the Slums.

Dropped by Mekrath at 8 in Mekrath's Lair.
Found in the Spore Colony Room behind the door at 3 in the Navigator's Room of the Planar Sphere.
Found at 4 on Level 1 of the De'Arnise Keep.
Sold by the Djinni in the blue tent at 4 in Trademeet, as long as you haven't solved the Djinni in Trademeet quest for them.
Dropped by the Pirate Mage at 10 in Brynnlaw, after you return from the Asylum.
Dropped by one of the Wyvern Cultists at 6 in the Forest of Tethir.
Dropped by Raamilat at 9 in Suldanessellar.

Dropped by Korun the Black and the Il-Khan Battle Mage on Level 2 of Gromnir's Castle.

Usable by: Mages and Clerics.

Sold by the Potions Merchant at 3 in Ust Natha.

Rod of Terror

Properties:

Penalty: 20% chance that the user loses 1 point of Charisma permanently.
Target must save vs. spells (+4 bonus) or flee in terror (lasts 4 rounds).
THAC0: +3.
Damage: 1D6 + 3.
Weight: 3.
Speed Factor: 1.

Location:

Dropped by the Lich at 8 in the Crooked Crane Inn.

Serpent Shaft

Properties:

Combat Ability: 50% chance of poisoning opponents with each successful attack. The poisoning lasts for 1 round and does 2 hit points of damage, unless the target makes a save vs. Death.
THAC0: +2.
Damage: 1D6 + 2.
Weight: 3.
Speed Factor: 1.
Requires: 5 Strength.
Cespenar can combine this item with the Ravager +4 halberd to create the Ravager +6.

Dropped by Azamantes the Lich at 5 on the Final Seal level of Watcher's Keep, after you open the Spirit seal.

Staff Mace +2

Properties:

THAC0: +2 Bonus.
Damage: 2D4 + 2.
Weight: 4.
Speed Factor: 2.
Type: 1-handed.
Requires: 5 Strength.
Not usable by: Monks.

Location:

Dropped by Haz at 14 in the Lower Tombs in Chapter 3, if you sided with the Shadow Thieves and Haz gets killed by the Grimwarders.
Sold by the Temple of Umberlee at 12 in Brynnlaw.

Staff of Air +2

Properties:

Combat Abilities: If an Air Elemental is hit it must save vs. spells or be destroyed.
Abilities (cost 1 charge): Summon an 8HD Air Elemental for 1 hour.
Sleep Cloud, Range: 40 feet, Duration: 3 rounds.

Damage: 1D6 + 2.
Weight: 3.
Speed Factor: 1.
Requires: 5 Strength.

Dropped by the Master of Thralls at 6 in the Planar Prison.

Staff of Arundel

Properties:

Equipped Abilities:
- +10% Resistance to Fire and Cold.
- Wielder memorizes one extra fifth and sixth level spell.

Requires: 9 Dexterity.
Usable by: Druids.

Sold by Joluv at 6 in the Copper Coronet if you have installed the Bonus Merchants pack.

Not usable by: Monks.

Found on the table at 16 in the Mind Flayer Dungeon.

Properties:

Abilities (one charge): Cure 3-18 + 3 hit points, Disease, and Poison.
AC: +2.

Speed Factor: 4.
Requires: 5 Strength.
Not usable by: Thieves, Fighters, and Mages.

Found in the tomb at 2 in the Graveyard District.

Staff of Earth +2

Properties:

Combat Ability: If an Earth Elemental is hit, it must save vs. spells or be destroyed.
Abilities (one charge):
- Summon an 8 HD Earth Elemental for one hour.
- Stone to Flesh.
- Revert effects of a petrification attack.
THACO: +2.
Weight: 3.
Speed Factor: 1
Requires: 5 Strength.

Sold by the Weapons Merchant at 3 in Ust Natha.

Staff of Fire +2

Properties:

Combat Abilities: If a Fire Elemental is hit, it must save vs. spells or be destroyed.

- Globe of Invulnerability:
  - Duration: 1 round per level.
  - Range: User.
  - Area: 5-foot radius sphere.
  - Grants immunity to 1st to 4th level spells.
- Lightning Bolt of Paralyzation:
  - Damage: 10D6.
  - Range: 140 yards.
  - Saving Throw: For half damage.
  - Stuns the target for 5 rounds (no save).

Sold by Bolumir at 11 on Level 2 of the DeArnise Keep if you get the keep as your stronghold and allow Bolumir to set up shop in connection with the Fighter Stronghold Quests.
Sold by the Merchant at the marketplace at 11 in Trademeet, once you have solved the Djinni in Trademeet quest.

Staff of the High Forest

Properties:

Equipped Ability: Regenerate 1 hit point every 12 seconds.
THAC0: +2.
Damage: 1D6 + 2.
Weight: 3.
Speed Factor: 1.
Usable by: Cernd.

Part of Cernd's starting equipment.

Staff of the Magi

Properties:

Armor Class: +2 Bonus.
Saving Throws: +2 Bonus.
Equipped Abilities:
- Invisibility.
- Immunity to Charm.
- Protection from Evil.
Fireball-Lightning:
- Damage: Combined Lightning and Fireball Damage.
- Range: 150 feet.
- Use: Three times per day.
Ability: Trap Spell.
- Duration: 8 hours or until 30 spell levels have been trapped.
- Use: Once per day.
Combat Ability (each hit): Dispel Magic.

Requires: 5 Strength.
With Roranach's Horn, Cespenar can upgrade the staff to the Staff of the Ram +6.
