The simple Dagger is the favored melee weapon of the Mage; though most Mages prefer to stay well away from the front line! But in fact anyone except a Cleric can learn how to use this weapon.

Dropped by the war party at 3 in the North Forest.
Sold by Ribald Barterman at 2 in the Adventurer's Mart in Chapter 6 if you agree to pay for seeing his special wares.

Dropped by Illasera at the start of Throne of Bhaal. You can pick it up after the battle in the Hellish Pocket Plane.
Dropped by Kiser Jhaeri and his croonies at 7 in Kiser Jhaeri's home.
Sold by the bartender at 3 in the Tankard Tree.
Dropped by Gromnir's soldiers at various locations on Level 2 of the Saradush Prison.
Sold by Karthis al-Hezzar at 2 in the North Forest after you save him from Yaga-Shura's soldiers.
Dropped by the Skeleton Assassin at 3 in the Forest of Mir.

Watcher's Keep:
Dropped by the Tieflings at 29 on the Maze Level of Watcher's Keep.
Dropped by Aesgareth's party at 35 on the Maze Level of Watcher's Keep.

You need to plant this dagger in the pool in the Vulova Estate in connection with the Kill a Merchant quest in Chapter 3 if you sided with Bodhi.
