WANDS

Use Wands to cast magical spells at your enemies. Most Wands can only be used by magic-users but a few are simple enough that other classes can also use them.

Rod of Absorption

Properties:

One charge: Spell absorptions for four rounds.
Usable by: Clerics and Mages.

Location:

Given to you by Vithal in the Underdark at the end of Vithal's Quest.

Rod of Lordly Might

Properties:

May turn into one of the following weapons when used:
- Mace +2:
  - Target must save vs. spells (+5 Bonus) or be affected by fear for four rounds.
  - THAC0: +2.
  - Damage: +2.
- Flaming Long Sword +1:
  - Target must save vs. spells (+5 Bonus) or be held for five rounds.
  - THAC0: +1.
  - Damage: +1.
- Spear +3:
  - Target must save vs. spells (+6 Bonus) or take 2D4 points of magical damage.
  - THAC0: +3.
  - Damage: +3.
Usable by: Warriors.

Location:

Found in the Sahuagin Treasury at 2 in the City of Caverns.

Rod of Resurrection

Properties: Special Abilities (one charge): Resurrection.

Location:

Sold by Ribald Barterman at 2 in the Adventurer's Mart.
Found in Mekrath's room at 8 in Mekrath's Lair.
Sold by Karthis al-Hezzar at 2 in the North Forest after you save him from Yaga-Shura's soldiers.

Rod of Reversal

Properties:

Cast Ruby Ray of Reversal (1 charge per use).
Usable by: Fighters, Rangers, and Paladins.

Location:

Throne of Bhaal:

Sold by the Smugglers at 1 in the Smugglers Cave in Amkethran if you save them from the Monks.

Wand of Cloudkill

Properties:

1-10 Damage per round
- 1-4 HD: Instant death with no save.
- 5-6 HD: Save vs. spell or instant death.
Range. 60 feet.
Area: 20 foot radius.
Duration: 1D4 turns.
Not usable by: Fighters, Clerics, Druids, and Thieves.

Location:

Found in the Trap Room at 7 on Level 2 of Irenicus' Dungeon if you disarm the right trap.
Dropped by the Lich at 8 in the Crooked Crane Inn.
Found in Mekrath's room at 8 in Mekrath's Lair.

Wand of Cursing

Properties:

Casts Blindness, Deafness, and Silence on target (save negates all effects).

Location:

Throne of Bhaal:

Dropped by Sendai herself in Sendai's room.

Watcher's Keep:
Found in the Fire Mage's Library at 4 on the Elemental Level of Watcher's Keep.
Found at 3 in the Mind Flayer Encampment.

Wand of Fear

Properties:

Causes enemies to run in fear unless they save vs. spells.
Range: 100 feet.
Area: 20-foot radius.
Duration: 15 rounds.
Not usable by: Fighters and Thieves.

Location:

Found in the room at 8 in the Slaver Boat.
Found at 9 in the Guarded Compound.
Found in a trapped closet at 5 in the Umar Inn.
Dropped by Aran Linvail at 28 in the Shadow Thief Guildhall during Chapter 3 if you sided with Bodhi.

Wand of Fire

Properties:

Fireball:
- Effect: Shoots out a Fireball.
- Damage: 6D6 (save vs. wands for half).
- Range: 90 feet.
- Area: 30-foot radius.
Agannazar's Scorcher:
- Effect: Agannazar's Scorcher.
- Damage: 6D6 + 6 (save vs. wands for half).
- Range: 90 feet.
- Area: 1 creature.
Not usable by: Fighters, Clerics, Druids, and Thieves.

Location:

Found in the Trap Room at 7 on Level 2 of Irenicus' Dungeon if you disarm the right trap.
Found on one of the trapped tables at 8 on the third floor of Rayic Gethras' home.
Dropped by the Lich at 8 in the Crooked Crane Inn.
Sold by the merchant in the red tent at 5 in Trademeet once you have solved the Djinni in Trademeet quest.

Wand of Frost

Properties:

Effect: Column of Ice.
Damage: 8D6 (save vs. wands for half).
Range: 100.
Area: 1 creature.
Not usable by: Fighters, Clerics, Druids, and Thieves.

Location:

Found in the Trap Room at 7 on Level 2 of Irenicus' Dungeon if you disarm the right trap.
Sold by Arledrian on the second floor of Gaelan Bayle's Home.
Found at 11 in the Guarded Compound.
Found in the room at 4 on Level 2 of the De'Arnise Keep.
Sold by the Djinni in the blue tent at 4 in Trademeet, as long as you haven't solved the Djinni in Trademeet quest for them.
Sold by Adratha in her hut at 12 in the Druid Grove, as long as you haven't revealed her true identity.
Found in the lake at 4 on the second floor of Deirex's Tower.

Throne of Bhaal:
Sold by the Smugglers at 1 in the Smugglers Cave in Amkethran if you save them from the Monks.

Wand of Lightning

Properties:

Effect: Lightning Bolt.
Damage: 3D6.
Range: 100 feet.
Area: Path of Bolt.
Not usable by: Fighters, Clerics, Druids, and Thieves.

Location:

Found in the Trap Room at 7 on Level 2 of Irenicus' Dungeon if you disarm the right trap.
Dropped by Sorcerous Amon at 5 in the Den of the Seven Vales.
Dropped by the Lich at 8 in the Crooked Crane Inn.
Dropped by a Thrall at 5 in the Planar Prison.
Found behind a trapped panel in the Lava Room at 11 on Level 1 of the Temple Ruins Dungeon.
Dropped by the "Umar Witch" at 7 on Level 1 of the Temple Ruins Dungeon if you are doing the Ranger Stronghold quests.
Found in the cabin at 7 in the Forest of Tethir.

Throne of Bhaal:
Found in a container at 8 on Level 2 of the Saradush Prison.

Wand of Magic Missile

Properties:

1 Magic Missile will strike target.
Damage: 1D4.
Range: 100 feet.
Area: 1 creature.

Location:

Found in the Trap Room at 7 on Level 2 of Irenicus' Dungeon if you disarm the right trap.
Found on the second floor of Gaelan Bayle's home.
Dropped by Prebek in Prebek's Home at 5 in the Docks District.
Found at 3 in the Horn House in the Bridge District of Athkatla.
Found in the lake at 4 on the second floor of Deirex's Tower.

Watcher's Keep:
Found in Carston's Apprentice's cot at 5 in the Mind Flayer Encampment.
Found in a container at 10 in the Machine of Lum the Mad area.

Wand of Monster Summoning

Properties:

Summons 12 HD of monsters.
Range: 20 feet.
Duration: 2 turns.
Not usable by: Fighters, Clerics, Druids, and Thieves.

Location:

Found in the Trap Room at 7 on Level 2 of Irenicus' Dungeon if you disarm the right trap.
Found in a chest at 2 in the Temple of Lathander.
Dropped by Delgarden after he turns Edwin back into a man in connection with the Nether Scroll quest.

Throne of Bhaal:
Dropped by a Yaga-Shura Mage at 5 in the North Forest.

Wand of Paralyzation

Properties:

Stuns target unless save vs. wands with -4 penalty.
Range: 100 ft.
Area: 1 creature.
Duration: 10 rounds.
Not usable by: Fighters, Druids, Clerics, and Thieves.

Location:

Found in the room at 12 in the Guarded Compound.
Dropped by the war party at 3 in the North Forest.

Wand of Sleep

Properties:

Sleep unless the victim saves vs. Wands.
Range: 90 feet.
Area: 20 foot radius.
Duration: 2 rounds.

Location:

Watcher's Keep:

Found at 3 on the First Level of Watcher's Keep.

Wand of Spell Striking

Properties:

Casts Breach (uses one charge).
Casts Pierce Magic (uses one charge).

Location:

Watcher's Keep:

Found in the Ice Mage's Library at 10 on the Elemental Level of Watcher's Keep.
Dropped by the Tieflings at 29 on the Maze Level of Watcher's Keep.
Found in one of the piles on the floor at 33 on the Maze Level of Watcher's Keep.
Found in a container at 2 in the Githyanki Area.
Found in a container at 12 in the Machine of Lum the Mad Area.

Wand of the Apprenti

Properties: Randomly casts one of three spells from a separate elemental source.

Location: One of the items your apprentices can create for you if you are a Mage and you accept the Planar Sphere as your stronghold. Please see the Mage Stronghold quests.

Wand of the Heavens

Properties:

Effect: Flamestrike.
Damage: 8D6 (save vs. wands for half).
Range 120 feet.
Area: 1 creature.
Not usable by: Fighters, Mages, Bards, and Thieves.

Location:

Found at 2 in the Temple of Talos.
Sold by the Temple of Umberlee at 12 in Brynnlaw.

Watcher's Keep:
Found in a closet at 10 on the First Level of Watcher's Keep.
Found in a chest at 1 in the Githyanki Area.

Wand of Wonder

Properties: Random effects each time the wand is used.

Location:

Found at 4 in the Mind Flayer Area of the Sewers.
