Dice Dice: Who was the moron who planted the orange tree half in the shade?
      Sep 24, 2020 at 4:19 AM
dmc dmc: I'm trying to teach my son the value of being a squeaky wheel and also the value of his time. The irritating bit is his absolute refusal to take advice. He only seems to learn from his own mistakes (and then sometimes only after making the same one several times).

Dice Dice: How old is he now?
      Sep 24, 2020 at 4:20 AM
dmc dmc: Either a landscape architect or the gardener that he hired. They did it about 15 years ago and I couldn't fathom why, but I was overruled at the time. I have since bided my time and will now move forward with relocating it because the fruit is divine and with full sun, it should do much better.

Dice Dice: Funny thing how kids don't always want to listen to their parents.
      Sep 24, 2020 at 4:21 AM
dmc dmc: Well, the part that is really annoying is the fact that he will realize when all is said and done that my wife and I were correct, will admit it, and then will just ignore us completely the next time . . .
      Sep 24, 2020 at 4:22 AM
      dmc dmc: He's 22. Going on 6.
      Sep 24, 2020 at 4:22 AM
      Dice Dice: lol
      Sep 24, 2020 at 4:23 AM
dmc dmc: Because of Covid, I am working from home most of the time, and so I am more active in dealing with household issues. Or, as my wife likes to say, I butt in a lot more than I used to.
      Sep 24, 2020 at 4:23 AM
dmc dmc: My dog does not complain about the extra love though.
      Sep 24, 2020 at 4:23 AM
Dice Dice: All the pets are living the life these days.
      Sep 24, 2020 at 4:24 AM
Dice Dice: Is your wife trying to bribe you with bread to get you to butt out?
      Sep 24, 2020 at 4:25 AM
dmc dmc: No, she took up the bread thing early on and took quite a while to get a viable starter. She really enjoys it and we enjoy the results.
      Sep 24, 2020 at 4:26 AM
Dice Dice: My 15yr son has made bread from scratch a couple times. It turned out pretty nice.
      Sep 24, 2020 at 4:26 AM
dmc dmc: I saw an xkcd a few months ago that said something about Covid being a symbiont for sourdough starter or something like that. I'll try to find it and link it.
      Sep 24, 2020 at 4:26 AM
Dice Dice: That's kind of interesting in an unusual way.

      Sep 24, 2020 at 4:28 AM
dmc dmc: Couldn't help but laugh at that, especially as, at the time, I think the starter was just finally beginning to survive and be viable for bread making.
      Sep 24, 2020 at 4:29 AM
Dice Dice: I believe there are starters out there that are decades old.
      Sep 24, 2020 at 4:29 AM
dmc dmc: Yes, I think even older than that.
      Sep 24, 2020 at 4:30 AM
      Dice Dice: 122 Years
      Sep 24, 2020 at 4:30 AM
dmc dmc: Whelp, I hear the sounds of the table being set (my son is good for that) and it is time for dinner, so I will wish you a good evening. Hope you get that job.
      Sep 24, 2020 at 4:30 AM
Dice Dice: Thanks dmc, enjoy your dinner.
