THE PLANAR PRISON

If you are naughty, you are sent to prison. If you are a naughty planar traveler, you are sent to the Planar Prison!

To get here, you have to solve the Find Haer'Dalis quest and offer to help Raelis Shai and her actors fight off the monsters that appear from the portal she opens. After Raelis & Co. are abducted by Bounty Hunters, prepare yourself for battle, and jump through the portal back at 10 in the Five Flagons Inn. Welcome to the prison...

  1. This is where you arrive. You will witness a group of Bounty Hunters trying to force a Gnome to put his collar back on. When they notice you, battle is inevitable. Try to get their Mages first and keep True Seeing or similar active to avoid backstabs by their Thief.

    Once the battle is over, Tagget the Gnome tells you where you are: In a planar prison with no way out. He suggests that you avoid fighting the Warden to the north and instead take out the Master of Thralls first, steal his Orb, and destroy it. Tagget can also tell you that all Thralls in the prison wear collars that enslave their minds and force them to do the Warden's bidding.

    The Bounty Hunters drop a number of useful items: Two-handed Sword +1; the Melodic Chain; Scrolls of Flesh to Stone, Summon Efreeti, Death Spell, and Chain Lightning; 2 Potions of Extra healing; 2 Leather Armor +1; Arrows of Fire; Arrows of Ice; the Dagger Pixie Prick +3; Boots of Speed; Cloak of the Shield; and Bracers of Defense AC 8.

  2. Here are some thralls who unfortunately (for them) are forced to attack you.
    The brazier in the center of the room is where you want to destroy the Master of Thrall's Orb.

    At (x=2310, y=1820) is a container with a variety of mundane ranged weapons and some Arrows of Biting.

  3. If you step on any of the pulsating blobs, you will be teleported to a small cell with several hostile Githyanki. The blobs stop working once you destroy the Master of Thrall's Orb.

    The Githyanki each drop a Potion of Extra Healing if you can kill them fast enough so that they don't get around to using them.

  4. Here will be a Yuan-ti Mage and a few Salamanders. Watch out for Confusion spells!

  5. Here is a Thrall Mage and a Wyvern. One of the Thralls drops Gauntlets of Weapon Skill, the Short Sword Kundane +2, and a Ring of Protection +1. Another Thrall drops a Wand of Lightning, Bracers of Defense AC 8, and a Potion of Extra Healing.

    Lasivern has provided me with the useful information that Kundane +2 gives you one extra attack per round with your main weapon, even if you wield it in your off-hand.

  6. Here is the Master of Thralls, a Demon. He summons in two Air Elementals. The Master of Thralls drops a Staff of Air +2 and his Orb. The Orb should be destroyed back at 2; this will set all the Thralls in the prison free and weaken the Warden considerably.

  7. Here is the Warden, a powerful Cambion. You will have a hard time defeating him if you haven't destroyed the Master of Thrall's Orb. If you have destroyed it, defeating the Warden becomes a lot easier. He drops 3 Star Sapphires, 2 Emeralds, 2,577 GP, the Planar Prison Cell Key, the long sword Adjatha the Drinker +2, and the Wave Shaft.

    Some of the Thralls will drop a War Hammer +1 or a Long Sword +1.

  8. Here is where you will find Raelis Shai, Haer'Dalis, and the rest of the actors. When you approach with the Warden's Key, they will automatically be freed, and Raelis Shai casts the spell that returns everybody back to the Five Flagons Inn. Each party member receives 44,000 XP.
