A Tanner's shop - a place where a tanner cures hides. But what does a tanner do if he has no hides? He finds them, of course!

As you will learn in connection with the Bridge District Murders quest, this particular tanner finds his hides by skinning paupers alive!

  1. Here is where you arrive from the Bridge District.

  2. Here is the tanner, Reijek Hidesman. He will tell you that the shop is closed, and that you should come back another day.

    If you have gathered enough evidence to prove that he is the Bridge District murderer, he turns hostile and flees down the stairs.

    Here are also the stairs down to the cellar.

  3. The table here at (x=550, y=180) holds some gold and an Andar Gem.

    The basket at (x=670, y=130) holds a Shandon Gem and a Potion of Regeneration.

  1. Here are the stairs back to the first floor. When you arrive, several party members will express their horror at the sight - dead bodies strewn around, some of them without their skin on!

    Before going further into the room, make sure to search for traps! There is a trap in the floor at (x=500, y=620) which releases a Cloudkill spell.

  2. Over here are two more floor traps. This is also where you find the stairs down to the boat landing.

    If you told Lieutenant Aegisfield that you suspected the Tanner was the murderer and he went to investigate, you will find the good Lieutenant's body in the chimney at (x=710, y=420). Bring the body along so you can deliver it at the Council of Six building.

  3. The bed at (x=220, y=370) is trapped. Search it for a Potion of Fire Resistance, a Moonbar Gem, a Black Opal, and some cash.

  4. The other bed at (x=360, y=280) can be searched for a piece of Human Flesh. If you are sufficiently evil, you can have it made into Human Flesh +5 armor. How to do so is described on this page.

    The trapped and locked cupboard at (x=420, y=210) contains a Scroll of Protection from Electricity and the Tanner's Letter which can give you a hint on how to proceed with the Human Flesh +5 armor.

  1. Here are the stairs up to the cellar. When you arrive, you will have a short conversation with a Mage, before he teleports away and leaves you with two Ghasts and two Rune Assassins.

    The Ghasts drop some random treasure, the Assassins each drop Leather Armor, random treasure, and a Short Sword +1.

  2. The large crate at (x=510, y=390) is trapped and locked and contains Hide Armor and the Gesen Bow Shaft.

    The small crate at (x=670, y=440) contains Scrolls of Improved Invisibility and Monster Summoning II, plus a Tchazar Gem.

  3. The barrel at (x=700, y=240) contains a bit of cash.
