WINDSPEAR HILLS

The lord of this beautiful landscape, Jierdan Firkraag, has asked you to journey here and eradicate the monsters that have invaded his land. The pay is good and the job seems easy enough. The catch? Well, maybe you don't know who the real monsters are...

Besides the numbered locations, you may be ambushed by low-level monsters at random locations around the map.

  1. This is where you first arrive. You will immediately be attacked by a group of monsters who have the audacity to call you and your party monsters!

Once the fight is over, it will be revealed that the "monsters" were in fact knights, and that you have been tricked into killing them. If Keldorn is in your party, he will recognize one of the dead knights as Ajantis, one of your former companions from Baldur's Gate. Garren Windspear turns up on the scene and offers you shelter in his cabin at 2. You may as well accept, for if you leave the Windspear Hills before he has pleaded your case to the Order of the Most Radiant Heart, you will be attacked by knights of the Order no matter where you go.

  2. Here is Garren Windspear's Cabin. Enter, and Garren will tell you that he is the former lord of the land before Firkraag took it from him. Garren leaves to make plead your case before the Order of the Most Radiant Heart.

While he is gone, his daughter Iltha (if your main character is female, this will instead be his son Taar) will be abducted by Firkraag, and you will be attacked by his thugs.

Once the thugs are disposed of, Garren Windspear returns to find his child gone. You can now promise him to save his child. Also, a Gnome called Jum turns up with a challenge to you from Lord Firkraag.

  3. Here will be an Orc War Party waiting for you. Their archers will drop a few Arrows +1.

  4. Here is the Fairy Queen Vaelasa. Give her the Acorns you took from Ilyich back in Irenicus' Dungeon to solve the Free Irenicus' Captive Dryads quest.

If you didn't accept the quest and instead killed the Dryads, Vaelasa will know of this and be most displeased. She summons a couple of Sirenes and a few Bears to attack you. Nothing that ought to pose a serious threat, though.

  5. Here you will run into a party of Gibberlings and Mutated Gibberlings.

  6. Here you can run into an Ankheg or two. Each drops an Ankheg Shell and some random loot. The shell can be taken back to Cromwell's Smithy in the Docks District where Cromwell can forge it into Ankheg Plate Mail.

  7. Here you will see a group of knights fighting some Gnolls. Once the Gnolls are dead, the knights are revealed to be Werewolves.

  8. Here is a Goblin War Party waiting for you.

  9. Here is the entrance to Level 1 of the Windspear Hills Dungeon.
