A Rashemi Berserker guards his witch with his life. No, not Minsc and Dynaheir but another pair on a Dajemma, although they need to be in the party to truly realize the completion of this Quest. The question is whether or not you can convince this pair to abandon the Crusade.
Rigah and Julann will be at 13 on the surface of the Underground River. A party that doesn't include both Dynaheir and Minsc is not going to strike up much of a conversation with them. Rigah will warn you to stay away from Julann.
If you leave them as is they'll turn up later at the siege of Dragonspear Castle during Chapter 11 as members of the Crusader forces.
You could also kill them now, especially if you're playing an evil party. You'll get 6,000xp and a -1 loss of Reputation.
Speaking to them with both Dynaheir and Minsc in the party leads to an extended conversation where both pairs relate to each other over their shared background. Rigah and Julann also let on that they intend to join the Crusade. You won't be able to do anything about that, at least not yet. Your journal entry for the Quest will indicate that you may need to find evidence of evil within the Crusade, and underground, before you revisit the topic with Rigah and Julann.
You'll now be at 1. There are plenty of other Quests and encounters to be found here. But for present purposes you'll want to reach the entrance to Kanaglym at 27. You will likely have to fight groups of Myconids protecting a Shrieker at points marked 20, and groups of Dark Treants and Gargantuan Spiders led by a Corrupted Hamadryad at points marked 24.
And you'll encounter the spirit of a dragon named Halatathlaer once there. Getting past her and into Kanaglym is the start of the Ghost Dragon Guardian Quest.
You'll now be at 1 in Kanaglym. Kherriun will be at 6 as the leader of several close-by Dark Magicians. The Dark Magicians at 5 will join in as well. There is overlap in that defeating Kherriun and all of her Dark Magicians is the objective of The Cabal Quest.
Halatathlaer will initially join the fight against you, under Kherriun's control. But if you inflict enough damage on Kherriun then her soul jar, the means by which she controls Halatathlaer, will shatter. Halatathlaer's spirit will be freed and she'll instead start attacking the Dark Magicians. You can if you wish let Halatathlaer slaughter them by herself. Or you can stay and try and rack up as much xp as you can. Keep in mind that you only get xp for a given enemy if you land the killing blow instead of Halatathlaer.
She'll speak to you once the battle ends. Freeing her completes the Ghost Dragon Guardian Quest.
There is a chest at 7 which has Hephernaan's Ritual Notes. This is the evidence you need if you want Rigah and Julann to rethink their joining the Crusade.
First speak with Rigah. You and Rigah and Minsc will have a three way conversation, with a key topic being comparisons between Rigah's Dajemma and Minsc's dejemma.
One possibility is to choose dialogue options that suggest that things are only going to get worse for Rigah if he continues on his dejemma with Julann, and then end the conversation by driving the point home that he will never see his homeland again and that Julann is going to lead him on a pointless and never-ending journey of futility. That will have the effect of making Rigah 'depressed'. Check your journal entry for the Quest to make sure that he's been made depressed if this is the route you want to take. Now speak to Julann and confront her with Hephernaan's Ritual Notes. You can now convince Rigah to turn against Julann so that he will help you kill her. You'll get 6,000xp and he'll give you the Dragon Blade before departing.
Another possibility is to choose dialogue options to suggest to Rigah that Julann needs him or that his dejemma serves a needed purpose. That will have the effect of making Rigah 'bolstered'. And again check your journal entry to make you have the state of Rigah that you want. Now speak to Julann and confront her with Hephernaan's Ritual Notes. Convincing Julann that the Crusade is wrong requires that the Hero of Baldur's Gate must have both a Wisdom of 15 and Intelligence of 18, or be either a Barbarian or a Mage. She'll reward you with +1 Reputation, 6,000xp and the Dragon Blade if you can pull it off. She and Rigah will then depart.
