Two Crusader Recruits want to get Tempus' blessing for the coming battles, but they're convinced that the shrine to Tempus they've been praying at needs to be repaired first.
Speak to Recruit Kjarvan and Recruit Qing at 16 in the courtyard of Dragonspear Castle. They're hoping to gain Tempus' favor by praying at a stone that has Tempus' holy symbol etched into it. A dialogue option that suggests that Caelar isn't as holy as she seems will offend them and prompt them to attack. Recruit Kjarvan has a Potion of Healing.
Taking the conversation leads to the recruits noticing that two pieces of the stone seem to be missing, and becoming convinced that restoring the missing pieces will lead to Tempus hearing their pleas. You can offer to find those pieces for them. They'll drop hints that maybe a nearby pile of rubble might have one of the pieces, and that Deneld might have the other.
Speak to Deneld at 28 while wearing a Crusader Uniform and ask him for his stone shard. He'll want to know why you want it. He won't give it to you if you cite boosting morale, but will give you the Second Stone Fragment if you justify it on the basis of gaining the favor of Tempus or the Gods generally for the upcoming battles.
Speak to Recruit Kjarvan and Recruit Qing again at 16 in the courtyard of Dragonspear Castle, and inform them of having found the fragments and having them blessed by Tempus. Place the Sanctified Shards on the icon of Tempus.
The voice of Tempus will ask if you want to be tested. You can indicate that you do not want to be tested, and receive a 6,000xp reward.
Indicating that you do want to be tested will lead to a fight against the Sentry of Tempus. You'll get 5,000xp if you can defeat it, in addition to the 6,000xp quest reward, in addition to a Large Shield called The Bloodied Guardian.
