THE PROBLEM WITH PRITCHARD

A couple of discontented Daggerford soldiers want an officer gotten rid of. Whether you help them carry out their plan, turn them in to the authorities, or trick them is up to you.

Coalition Camp

  1. Speak to Sempek and Damius at 37 in the Coalition Camp. Take them up on their offer of a drink if you want to get the Quest. They then voice their request for you to kill a Gnome officer named Pritchard Gardnersonson. Glint, if he's in the party, will interject as he sees it as another opportunity to complete his personal Quest. He won't audibly object to killing his cousin, Pritchard, at least not just yet.

If you turn them down, they'll flee the Coalition Camp and the Quest will fail. Agreeing to the request keeps the Quest active.

  2. One pathway is to speak to Pritchard at 36 and reveal the plot to him. General Stonehand, who is close by, will decide that Sempek and Damius will be punished and rewards you with a Potion of Magic Protection. This will preclude being able to complete Glint's personal Quest.

Glint, if he is in the party, will preclude this possibility as he has his own preference for how to deal with the situation (see below).

  3. Another branch of pathways opens up when you tell Pritchard that Belegarm has an item just for Gnomes that he'd be interested in. He'll follow you to near Belegarm at 3. Once there he'll wonder what the item is. Or you can talk to him to get that response from him. Now force-attack him. You'll lose -2 Reputation points when he asks what you're doing and his circle goes red. Reduce his Hit Points enough and he'll plead for his life, although it's possible to kill him before he can beg like through a Critical Hit.

You can decide to kill him, which results in another -1 loss of Reputation and him leaving behind Pritchard's Family Stiletto. Tell Damius (not Sempek) the news and he'll reward you with a Potion of Fire Giant Strength and a Potion of Fortitude.

You can accept his plea to let him live. If you want to do the Quest this way you have to be careful to avoid outright killing him before he can make his plea. You may want to have just one or two characters attacking him and let the rest of the party stand around to avoid that. He'll willingly give you Pritchard's Family Stiletto and leave. You can now go to Damius to claim the same rewards.

  4. The third branch opens up if Glint is in the party. Speak to Pritchard, and he and Glint will recognize and welcome each other. Glint ends the conversation and says he wants to talk to you privately about how to handle the situation.

Force-talk to him. Glint wants you to hurt Pritchard, but not fatally so as to teach him a lesson. If you turn down the request it will break the Quest.

Talk to Pritchard again and lure him to Belegarm with the promise of a Gnome-specific item. Force-attack him so that he asks what's going on, which still results in the -2 loss of Reputation. Continue to damage him some more and Glint will stop things, and persuade Pritchard to leave the Coalition Camp. Pritchard will gift Pritchard's Family Stiletto to Glint, who notes that he appreciates the gift even as he can't use it as a Cleric. Pritchard then leaves the Camp for good.

You can now go back to Damius for the same rewards.
