Help a Coalition drill sergeant whip some recruits into fighting shape.
Vigilant Halasan at 30 in the Coalition Camp will vent her frustration at not being able to turn the six recruits she's drilling in front of her into soldiers. You can offer to help, and then the six recruits will go off to the west a little bit to resume their drills individually. It's a matter of having each recruit show you his or her stuff to begin with, and speaking with the recruit a second time with dialogue options that may score 0 or 1 or 2 success points. If your Hero of Baldur's Gate is a Fighter, Paladin or Ranger, he or she will be able to score 2 success points with each recruit. But each individual recruit has different follow-up options as well.
For Garrold the Mage option of "You have a knack for ..." also scores 2 points. Having either Dynaheir or Edwin speak to him, or your Hero of Baldur's Gate choose an option that's available when he or she has 11 or more Intelligence, earns 1 point. Any other reply earns 0 points.
Additional options for being a Barbarian or Blackguard will help with Morlis. Having Dorn speak to him also gets 2 points. A reply based on having 11 or more Strength will get 1 point. Any other option does not earn any points.
For Hester all of a Fighter, Paladin, Ranger, Cleric or Bard can earn 2 points with the reply that begins with, "That's the spirit." M'Khiin and Viconia can also get 2 points from Hester. The reply that begins with "Sure, that works ..." earns 1 point. Any other reply earns 0 points.
A dialogue option based on the Hero of Baldur's Gate being a Half-Elf will also get 2 points from Taield, as will having Jaheira. An option based on having 11 Charisma or more will get 1 point from him. Any other reply will get 0 points from him.
If your Hero of Baldur's Gate is a Thief, then the dialogue option of "Your style is similar to mine" gets 2 points from Danine. Having Safana talk to her, or an option that's available when you have a Dexterity of 11 or higher and Safana is in the party also gets 2 points from Danine. A dialogue option based on having Dexterity of 11 or more but without Safana in the party earns 1 point from Danine. Any other option gets 0 points.
A dialogue option is also available for Dwarf, Gnome or Halfling Bhaalspawns to get 2 points from Clovista. M'Khiin or Glint can also get 2 points from Clovista. A dialogue option based on having a Constitution of 11 or higher will get 1 point. Any other reply gets 0 points.
Speak to Halasan again. You'll receive 6,000xp and the Commander's Chain Mail +3 if you got at least 6 points from training the recruits. Her response will be especially grateful if you got 10 points, but that doesn't change the rewards themselves.
