Prologue

Alliria's History

The one mod that I installed was the Moon Godlike Rebalance from the Tweaks mod available from Nexus Mods:

https://www.nexusmods.com/pillarsofeternity2/mods/72

As for the custom Pillars of Eternity 1 history, a lot of the decisions reflect benevolent or good choices. For example, I certainly did not sacrifice a companion to Skaen's Pool or absorb the souls from the Engwithan Machine in Heritage Hill. But there were other choices informed by pragmatism.

I convinced Devil of Caroc to spare Harmke, so that I can get the Devil of Caroc Breastplate even if as an interim armor.

I killed Lilith, because there's a specific ship upgrade that I want that's available only if I had killed her.

I reforged the Blade of the Endless Paths, because there's an Estoc that I want for Rekke.

I bound the souls of the Durgan Dwarves to the cannons, because I want the Haeferic's Nose Cannon for my ship.

I also wounded and drove off the Sky Dragon, because there's a specific Pet that I want.

I also returned the Hollowborn souls back to their intended bodies, and pledged myself to Hylea, so that I could get Hylea's Bounty.

*Evil* Zarathos' History

Here is the History composition for Zarathos. Some of the choices are the same. He also convinced Devil of Caroc to spare Harmke, so that I can get the Devil of Caroc Breastplate, and I bind the Dwarven spirits to get the Haeferic's Nose Cannon.

But there's a lot of differences too, mostly to reflect moral choices. Some key ones include ...

I outright killed the Sky Dragon, because I have a different Pet in mind for Zarathos.

I also restored Eder's faith, because I have a specific Amulet in mind for Maia.

I also sacrificed Durance to the blood pool, to get his particular version of Effigy's Resentment (+1 Constitution, +5% Maximum Health).

I also absorbed the souls through the machine in Heritage Hill, so as to eventually get Gift from the Machine (+1 Might, +5% Maximum Health).

Introduction

First I make some choices about the game I'll play. I set it to Path of the Damned, and upscaling for all encounters.

I have 104 Berath's Blessings based on Achievements during my previous playthroughs. I spend them as follows:

Note that I could get a LOT of money from using Sleight of Hand to pickpocket everyone in sight. But it's an extremely tedious process, and one that would really bog down a video-based walkthrough. That's my justification for the 55,000+ extra cp. I could get it anyway, but I prefer to cut away the tedium.

I begin the game, and the introductory videos play.

Alliria's Character Creation

The creation of my good Watcher protagonist, Alliria.

I select The White That Wends (+1 Perception) as the Culture, and Mystic (+1 Arcana, +1 Metaphysics, +1 Religion) as the Background.

A Kind Wayfarer automatically gains White Flames. This is one of the foundations for the build. It's an enhanced version of Flames of Devotion that also heals all allies within a radius greatly enhanced by a high Intelligence score. The amount of healing is increased by Fire Power Levels, and Fire Power Levels will also increase the power of her Fire-based Wizard spells. The good party is set up so that passive Health regeneration very often recoups any Damage taken by the party round to round during combat. But I often use this when the party has collectively taken some hard hits, like from a highly damaging enemy spell.

She takes Sworn Enemy. It provides Accuracy and Damage bonuses against a single enemy that the Paladin chooses, and lasts until that enemy dies or combat ends. It's an ability of choice against bosses.

She also takes Thrust of Tattered Veils. It's basically a single-target Interrupt that can come out in a flash. It can be useful in some situations, and is not in any of the Grimoires that she will use regularly.

*Evil* Zarathos' Character Creation

And here is the character creation for Zarathos.

I select Rauatai (+1 Constitution) as the Culture, and Mercenary (+1 Athletics, +1 Intimidate, +1 Streetwise) as the Background.

I also select Frenzy as the first ability for the Barbarian Class. Being a Berserker means that the +5 Might bonus also comes with a +2 bonus to Penetration, and the +5 Constitution bonus comes with a +2 bonus to Armor.

I get Swift Strikes for the Monk, which adds +5 Dexterity and +15% Action Speed for 10 sec. The +15% Action Speed won't stack with the 25% Action Speed of Frenzy, but the +15% Action Speed from raising Dexterity by 5 points will stack. There's also the additional reason that it will be upgraded to Swift Flurry.

Club and War Hammer were selected as the proficiencies.

Sloop in a Storm

Alliria wakes from her slumber in the ship's cabin. She speaks briefly with Eder and the Steward. Eld Engrim bursts in and informs Alliria that pirates have boarded the ship. I put on my equipment from the nearby armoire.

By the way, that armoire includes Hylea's Bounty. But I hold onto it until I'm ready to start the No Rest run in earnest.

I go out the door and have my first encounter with the Principi captain named Benweth, who assigns his underlings the task of killing my crew and taking my ship. The fight is an easy one, because the friendly Sailors help to Flank the enemy Pirates.

Then it becomes a choice between saving a crate from Caed Nua, or Chitupec. Alliria decides to save Chitupec, partly because it's what's expected of a good character, but also because he will be a permanent member of her crew.

*Evil* Sloop in a Storm

The evil version where Zarathos saves the crate instead of Chitupec. He drowns and dies.

Either way, the Watcher ends up on the shores of Vilario's Rest.
