World Map

Returning Bearn to Hasongo

I am now at #17 on the World Map. I sail northeast, the long way around Neketaka Island, and attack a Royal Deadfire Company Master Captain. It is set on sailing in and forcing a boarding battle. So I use what time I have to turn starboard side, Hold Position, and get in a Grapeshot volley before they close the distance. I easily slaughter what's left of their crew. I continue northwest and board a Deadfire Merchant Ship.

I sail west and attack another Royal Deadfire Company Master Captain. It sails closer once, and then willingly fights me at a range of less than 200m. I so gladly turn starboard side and blow it away with my Vailian Hullbreakers.

I continue west and sail to Hasongo at #48. Bringing Bearn back to Hasango means a small xp reward for completing Eder's personal Quest, The Lighted Path.

The Coral Queen

I sail straight north, and board a Huana Master Captain and a Crookspur Captain.

I continue north and board a Rauataian Junk named The Coral Queen, and captained by Takabna. I don't have much trouble besting the crew.

Leaden Key Ship

Alliria goes Below Deck on her ship, and speaks with Aloth. Their conversation ends with a resolve to find a mysterious Leaden Key faction he's been searching for, and progresses his personal Quest, The Painted Masks.

I sail north to #53, where I encounter a ship with an image of a key on its sails. Aloth naturally wants to investigate.

The crew has been slaughtered. Alliria clicks on the soul to read its memories, and learns that the Crew has been slaughtered by Huana warriors. She also makes a combined Alchemy check of 4 and Survival check of 4, followed by a History check of 8, to confirm for Aloth that the Wahaki tribe slaughtered the crew. Progress has been made for his personal Quest, The Painted Masks.

I sail northeast and board a Crookspur Captain. I then loot a Shipwreck for Repair Supplies and some coins.

I continue on to Ori O Koiki at #54 on the World Map.

Ori O Koiki

Kipeha

I start off at #1 on the map of Ori O Koiki. Kipeha will be at #6 on the map of Ori O Koiki. She acts as the gatekeeper for whether you can enter the village as a welcome visitor, and can grant permission to use the lift at #7 to enter the village.

Options for getting welcomed as a visitor include:

I then enter the village using the lift at #7.

Kipeha is now at #8. She now sells several items, most of them being food and crafting ingredients which I buy up. I also buy a Ring called Kauru's Prize. Alliria wears it for the rest of the game. The +1 Intellect, +1 Perception and +5% Damage with Spells all augment her role as the offensive spellcaster in the good party.

Aparo and Auata

I go to the doors at #9, and witness an argument between Aparo and Auata. I go through the door at #9 after asking Aparo a few questions.

Ori O Koiki Sanctum

Ranga Ruasare

I start off at #1 on the map of the Ori O Koiki Sanctum. Now I go north to #5, where Alliria has an audience with Ranga Ruasare. She will make an alliance with Queen Onekaza and the Kahanga tribe conditional on wiping out the leaders of the Crookspur Slavers. You don't have to commit to that demand then and there, which also starts the Cruel Cargo Quest. It is also progress for purposes of the Fruitful Alliance Quest.

I also ask her about Thaos and the Leaden Key. That leads to Alliria using her Watcher powers to read Ruasare's soul. She learns that Thaos had visited an earlier incarnation of Ranga Ruasare, and tried to coerce the Wahaki into abandoning the Engwithan ruins of Ori O Koiki. The Ranga had Thaos and his servants burned at the stake, but that fell in with Thaos' long game as the Wahaki would ensure that nobody else ever entered the ruins to discover the secret of the origins of the gods. The vision progresses Aloth's personal Quest, The Painted Masks.

I return to the door at #1 and leave the Sanctum.

Aloth is Adaptive

Aloth wants to speak to me again. Alliria explains the soul memories that he read from Ruasare.

There comes a point in the conversation where an option will either encourage Aloth to feel absolved of his involvement with the Leaden Key, or responsible for it. A reply encouraging him to take responsibility will result in a passive ability called Adaptive, which reduces the time needed to change Grimoires. An absolving reply will result in him gaining a passive ability called Persistent. He'll have a 25% chance to gain Concentration for 30 sec should he get Critically Hit.

It's an easy choice for the good party. Wearing Rekvu's Fractured Casque combined with his Sprained Knee Injury completely immunizes Aloth against any Interrupts whatsoever. But he has at least three Grimoires at the ready, and is more and more switching between them during battles as he gains more powers and levels. The reply that asserts to him that his actions will always have consequences, intended or otherwise, is a reliable way to get Adaptive.

I get 7,500+ xp for completing The Painted Masks Quest.

I thereafter leave Ori O Koiki altogether and return to ship.

It is now time to wipe out the Crookspur Slavers.
