The entrance to Pitli's Sanctuary is at #9 on the map of The
Gullet. She has taken in several people who have become afflicted
with a disease called Drowner's Lung. She would like you to obtain a
known cure for it from a place known as Delver's Row.
Triggering this quest will also trigger the Delver's
Row Task if it hasn't been already.
One way to end the Quest early, with the full 4,000+xp reward to boot,
is to tell Overseer Hitenga at #14 about Pitli housing the sick Roparu.
He will then send guards to gather the sick and condemn them to death in
Old City.
Doing things this way may have reputation effects with your companions.
For example, Maia and Pallegina
will approve of it as a necessity to avoid spreading the sickness, while
Tekehu will disapprove as
being callous towards Huana.
If you actually want to get the medicine for the sick, you can make a
start by heading to the main
floor of The Hole, the door to which is at #11.
Speak to Fyrma at #2. If you ask her directly about Delver's Row, and
have at least one point of positive reputation with The Gullet, then
she'll give you directions to reach Delver's Row through the Narrows
straightaway.
Otherwise, you would have to either make a Streetwise check of 2, or
give her 250cp (or 100cp if you make a Diplomacy check of 3).
A different branch of possibilities open up if you previously received The Envoy's Badge from
Prince Aruihi to start the Trade
Secrets Quest. You will have an option to flash the Badge to
Fyrma. From then on you can:
Make an Intimidate check of 2, which loses reputation with the
Delver's Row Criminals.
Make a Diplomacy check of 3, which also loses reputation with the
Delver's Row Criminals.
Pay her 400cp, which gains reputation with the Delver's Row
Criminals.
Any of those options will also convince her to give directions.
*NOTE* It is possible to reach Delver's Row without getting directions
from her, although you will need them if you can't make any of the
possible checks at the merchant stall that her directions speak of.
You can go right and then forward. You'll see a merchant stall.
Discovering the pathway behind the stall without any prior assistance
requires either Watcher-only checks of Streetwise 6 or Perception 18.
You can avoid these checks if either Dereo (if you previously accepted The Cornett's Call Quest) or Fyrma
previously told you that the passage is behind the stall.
Taking the passage will cause you to run into a few guards at the
entrance to the Row. You have several options for getting past them:
Attack them. Doing so will result in a reputation loss with the
Delver's Row Criminals.
Pay a toll of 50cp
Make a Bluff check of 3 to convince them that you already paid the
toll to a scarred man
Make a Diplomacy check of 4
You can drop Dereo's name either during or after completion of The Cornett's Call Quest.
Show them the Marked
Suole pickpocketed from Overseer Hitenga at #12.
Ernezzo and his crew are at #7. You can either buy the Drowner's
Lung Medicine from him for 800cp. An alternative is to get it
without paying the fee, but only if you first kill the Spindle Man and
his minions at #13. Doing do will also earn positive reputation with the
Delver's Row Criminals.
You can also get it by finding and pressing the hidden button at #5 to
open the door just to the west. The Drowner's
Lung Medicine will be in a container at #6.
An alternative is to share your memories of Ernezzo's request with the
Spindle Man. The Spindle Man in turn will reveal the location of the Drowner's Lung Medicine at
#6.
It also asks you to kill Ernezzo instead. If you do, you will lose
reputation with each of Ernezzo and his men that you kill, but you will
gain a 10% discount of items in the Spindle Man's shop.
If you want to lessen the risk, and possibly the extent of reputation
loss as well, some of Ernezzo's men will be absent during night time
hours as they go off drinking.
Another pathway is to hire Rust at #3 to take out either Ernezzo for
300cp or the Spindle Man for 600cp. Your chosen target, along with his
minions, will be dead once 26 hours have elapsed.
However you get the Drowner's
Lung Medicine, you can bring it to Pitli for 50cp, 4,000xp and a
ring called Halgot's Warmth as rewards. Gains of reputation with the Children of the
Dawnstars and The Gullet are additional rewards.
You can raise the 50cp to 200cp if you indicate that the medicine wasn't
cheap.
