This Quest becomes available after completing the Salt
in the Wound Task. The Family Pride
Quest gets activated at the same time.
The entrance to the Bardatto Estate is at #17 on the map of Queen's
Berth.
You start off at #1 on the map of the Bardatto
Estate. Speak to Ezalli Bardatto at #4. She wants you to uncover a
plot by the rival Valera family, and she thinks interrogating Zili
Valera will be the key. She also indicates that he can be found near one
of the watchtowers by the docks.
Zili Valera can be found at #36 on the map of Queen's
Berth. It will take very little effort on your part, no matter
which dialogue options you choose, to get the next crucial piece of
information from him. His cousin, Persa, is part of the plot and she's
staying at an inn called The Hole, which is in The Gullet.
You'll start off at #1 on the
map of the main floor of The
Hole. Make your way to #6. Persa will be conversing with a
Bardatto guard named Baer to plan out a heist on the Bardatto Vault. A
character with decent Stealth can simply eavesdrop on them, and that
will be enough to advance the Quest.
You can also opt for a more violent solution. Indicating an awareness
with an Insight check of 3, or sticking around after being told once to
leave, will provoke them into a fight while Persa flees. If you win, a Valera Spellwright who had been part of Persa's group leaves behind the Spellwright's Grimoire
in addition to the loot, as well as the Vault
Schematics. Having the latter item also helps to advance the
Quest.
Return to Ezalli with the information for 1,500cp, the Bardatto
Hull and an xp reward.
She will now want you to first repel the effort to rob the Vault
downstairs, and eventually help wipe out the Valera family as well. If
you commit yourself to her request, you will also commit yourself to
completing the Family Pride Quest in a
way that sees the Bardatto family wiping out the Valera family. It will
also mean failure of the Quest called A
Bigger Fish.
If you choose the Diplomatic reply to her request, she'll fob you off
initially. However, the Quest will be still be completed and you still
get the rewards. And you still have the option of either committing to
the Bardattos, aligning with the Valeras instead, or bringing both
families together into a truce as part of the Family
Pride Quest.
