Lighthouse

Lighthouse

Suugan

I start at the door at #1 on the map of the Lighthouse. Numerous Naga will be throughout the Lighthouse. The initial inclination of their leader, Suugan who is at #2, will be to attack. But Alliria speaks at length with him, and with the goal of convincing him to willingly let her access the Adra pillar at #3.

At some point she indicates that she is the Herald of Berath during the conversation, but that won't be enough by itself. The Clever response that asks Berath for another display won't work as a follow-up, but the Religion check of 7 does.

An alternative pathway was to indicate that Eothas came for the Adra itself, or that she can repair the Adra as a Watcher. A Metaphysics check of 6, or calling on the spirit of Yanass to speak to Suugan, are the follow ups that would have worked.

Mirke takes two abilities on her 19th level-up. One of them is the Dichotomous Soul. It summons two replicas of herself, one made of fire and the other of ice. They inherit her armor and accessories, but use unarmed attacks with one scoring bonus Burning Damage and the other scoring bonus Freezing Damage. There are some fights where bringing lots of summons can be helpful. And there are some fights where I want to summon the Dichotomous Souls non-stop, with Enduring Dance passively replenishing the needed Wounds.

The other is Deathblows. It adds 50% Damage to her weapon attacks to targets that have two or more Afflictions. She'll get herself partway when fighting mobs by using Stunning Surge with Fire in the Hole. Shadow Step and Confounding Blind can add the second Affliction if she needs to force the point. Other party members also have methods of forcing Afflictions on enemies. Paralysis from Alliria casting Ninagauth's Shadowflame or Hobbled from Aloth casting a Wall of Force would be but two examples.

*Evil* Suugan

Zarathos doesn't bother with much dialogue, and proceeds straight to combat. The Salvation of Time-Ancestor's Memory loop is more than sufficient to prevail.

Mirke gets two abilities with her 19th level-up. One of them is Weapon Mastery, which adds another 5% Damage with her Rannig's Wrath Rapier. The Rapier is inherently a Critical Hit weapon, especially in conjunction with Monk abilities like Swift Flurry, so honing her hitting abilities is still a good thing even if she's first and foremost a dedicated tank.

She also takes Heartbeat Drumming. It's a passive whereby any Melee Critical Hit has a 25% chance to instantly trigger an extra Melee Attack. The ability to trigger extra attacks through both this and Swift Flurry is the incentive to maximize Mirke's ability to land Critical Hits. And using the Rannig's Wrath Rapier, with its own inherent bonuses to Accuracy, plus the Needle Strike modal, means that Critical Hits will come frequently.

Aloth gets Strand of Favor in the evil party. The bonus to beneficial effect duration will prolong buffs like Infuse with Vital Essence, Arcane Veil and Llengrath's Displaced Image. The decrease in duration of hostile effects is a welcome benefit as well.

*Evil* A Distant Light

I now click on the Adra pillar at #3 to speak to Eothas again. Zarathos tends to be confrontational in his dialogue options. He also makes a combined Intellect check of 16 and Metaphysics check of 4 to discover the nature of the soul link you share with Eothas.

Eothas now returns a portion of Zarathos' soul to him. Zarathos had absorbed the souls in Heritage Hill as part of his Pillars of Eternity 1 History, so he now gains +1 Might and +5% Health.

If you sacrificed one of your companions to Skaen's pool as part of your Pillars of Eternity 1 History, your Watcher character will gain benefits depending on which companion you sacrificed as follows:

Eothas indicates that he's heading to a place called Ashen Maw. That completes the Quest called A Distant Light, and starts a new one called He Waits in Fire. The party also gets 18,000+xp. Now I leave the Lighthouse.

A Distant Light

Alliria also gets a piece of her soul back, but it doesn't empower her in the same way as it does Zarathos, as she never sacrificed a companion to Skaen's pool as part of her Pillars of Eternity 1 history.

It is after her conversation with Eothas that Suugan gives her the Strand of Favor and leaves. Fassina wears it for the rest of the game, and for the same reasons as Aloth.

I likewise go back out the door at #1 to return to Hasongo.

Hasongo

From the Wreckage

I emerge at the door at #22. I begin to head eastward. A companion or two will naturally have questions about what the Watcher said to Eothas and where the party is headed next. I leave Hasongo through the entrance at #1.

World Map

I am back at #48 on the World Map. Only I am now surrounded by a fleet of Rauataian Junks led by Atsura. He and Alliria share a few words. The conversation is a key event for the Huana Quest called From the Wreckage.

I now switch out Fassina and bring Aloth back in.

It is now time to complete Eder's personal Quest, The Lighted Path.
