Vailian Trading Company: Pahowane | Vailian Trading Company

Vailian Trading Company Headquarters

*Evil* Ragged Cloak

The evil party quickly dispenses with the possibility of any alliance with the Vailian Trading Company. I switch out Konstanten for Serafen. I Wait until it's Pre-Dawn, and then travel to Queen's Berth.

I enter the Vailian Trading Company headquarters, and then position myself close to Lueva Alvari, with Ydwin tucked into a corner. I force attack Lueva, thereby committing myself to wiping out the entire Company and excluding any possibility of an alliance. I manage to outlast them with the Salvation of Time-Ancestor's Memory loop.

Lueva leaves behind two noteworthy items. One is a pair of boots called Fenan's Finery. They're certainly useful, but they don't fit into my plans.

The other item that I do take, and the very reason for slaughtering the Company to begin with, is the Ragged Cloak. Serafen wears it for the rest of the game. The +1 to Resolve is nice. The key perk is Raw Damage against an attacker when the wearer receives a Melee Critical Hit. It's yet another effect that triggers on Critical Hits against himself that will enhance Serafen's Barbaric Retaliation, in addition to those provided by other items that he uses.

I leave the Headquarters, switch Serafen out for Tekehu, and return to my ship.

The evil party now begins Seeker, Slayer, Survivor.

Serpent's Crown

A Vote of No Confidence

It is still morning, so I first travel to Serpent's Crown.

I arrive at the exit at #14. I buy gems from Una at #3, head to the exit at #1, and then travel to Queen's Berth.

Queen's Berth

That brings me to the stairs at #18. I enter the Vailian Trading Company Headquarters through the door at #28.

Vailian Trading Company Headquarters, Main Floor

That brings me to the door at #1 on the map of the main floor of the Vailian Trading Company Headquarters. I go up the stairs at #9.

Vailian Trading Company Headquarters, Second Floor

That brings me to the stairs at #1 on the map of the second floor of the Vailian Trading Company Headquarters. I speak with Director Castol at #4, and earn 12,000+ xp and a moderate gain of reputation with the Company to complete the Skipping Ahead Quest.

He also drops a hint that I should speak to Governor Alvari. I go back down the stairs at #1.

Vailian Trading Company Headquarters, Main Floor

That brings me back to the stairs at #9. I speak to Governor Alvari at #6. She shares her intentions to launch a coup against Director Castol, which now starts the Quest called A Vote of No Confidence.

I go back up the stairs at #9.

Vailian Trading Company Headquarters, Second Floor

That brings me straightaway to Director Castol's room at #6 to begin his trial before the council of the Songretta, where Governor Alvari presents her accusations. The votes will apparently be stacked against Castol to begin with. You have opportunities at various points during the session to either solidify Alvari's accusations, or counter them to swing votes in Castol's favor. I decide to play it in Castol's favor, as I tend to think the ending slides will mean a more benevolent world.

Alvari brings up the lost expedition sent to Poko Kohara. I previously completed The Storms of Poko Kohara Quest in a way that favored the Vailian Trading Company, so now I point out that the adra vein was restored in order to score points for Castol.

She'll also bring up the vast resources spent on animancy research. I could deride the experiments (like the peril to yourself during those experiments) to solidify Alvari's case, but I instead point out that the experiments were successful in order to score points for Castol.

She'll also suggest that Castol is too focused on Ukaizo at the expense of known adra resources in the Deadfire. I could remain silent or concur with Alvari. But I instead point out the benefits to the Company, whether it's power through animancy or riches, if the Company can reach Ukaizo so as to score points for Castol. Alliria makes any of a Bluff check of 6, a Diplomacy check of 6, or a History check of 6 to make the case even stronger for Castol.

She also has Pallegina speak in favor of Castol.

The Company shareholders vote to keep Castol in the Director position, and exile Alvari from the Company for wasting the council's time.

I speak with Director Castol some more afterwards. He gives Alliria the job of blowing up the Brass Citadel, which starts the Quest called Sabotage at the Brass Citadel. I thereafter leave the Company Headquarters.

Queen's Berth

I am back at the door at #28. I head to the exit at #33.

Periki's Overlook

I travel directly to The Dark Cupboard at #3 on the map of Periki's Overlook, and buy up crafting ingredients.

I buy up more ingredients at Cuitztli's at #2, and head for the exit at #1.

Sabotage of the Brass Citadel

I travel directly to the Spire of the Soul Seers.

Spire of the Soul Seers

I go up the stairs at #3 on the map of the Spire of Soul Seers.

Spire of the Soul Seers, Rooftop

That brings me to #1 on the map of the Rooftop of the Spire of Soul Seers. I speak to Flaune Elette at #3. She gives me the Timed Explosive with the intention that I use it to blow up the Brass Citadel Powderhouse, but with enough time for my party to get out. She then teleports me.

Powderhouse, Storage

I begin at #7 on the map of the Storage of the Powderhouse. Dialogue that I've had with both Director Castol and Flaune Elette encourages me to use stealth without combat. But travelling around in Stealth takes time, especially with a lot of Guards around. I just find it easier to wipe everyone, and then plant the Timed Explosive in the vat at #8.

A new trio of guards appears around the stairs at #6, but I just kill them too and go up the stairs.

Powderhouse, Lower Floor

That brings me to #5 on the map of the Lower Floor of the Powderhouse. And again, I just find it easier to slaughter everyone and go out the door at #4 before the Timed Explosive goes off.

A cutscene of the Powderhouse blowing to smithereens plays out, and then the good party finds itself in a back alley area from where they can travel anywhere else in Neketaka. I travel directly to the Kahanga Palace in Serpent's Crown.

Kahanga Palace, Main Floor

The good party now has an audience with all of Queen Onekaza, Hazanui Karu and the Director. Queen Onekaza will have just finished an interview with a witness who claimed that the Director hired him to set the Powderhouse to blow. The Queen then questions you. You can:

Alliria covers for the Director with the lie and then backpedalling. That seals an alliance with the Vailian Trading Company. Queen Onekaza makes it clear to Alliria that she is no longer welcome among the Kahanga.

I "Wait" until Morning and then exit through the door at #1.

Serpent's CrownI start off at the door at #8. I go south and speak to Una at #3. But she will no longer sell gems to me, reflecting my status as no longer a friend of the Huana. I go to the exit and travel to Queen's Berth.

I speak with Director Castol at #4, and earn 5,000cp and 20,000+xp to complete this Quest and seal an exclusive alliance with the Vailian Trading Company. The Director indicates that an animancy device will allow you to safely reach Ukaizo through the storms of Ondra's Mortar. Quests for the other factions will now fail. The Coming Storm Quest will now also be completed.

I leave the Headquarters and return to Queen's Berth.

Queen's Berth

I am now back at the door at #28. I go to the exit at #33. The good party is now headed for the Splintered Reef.
