THE TRAITOR

Safana may end up helping you expose a traitor in the Coalition Camp.

Bridgefort

  1. Spend enough time in the Coalition Camp and Safana, if she's in your party, will let on that she's pickpocketed several items along the way. And the items she's pickpocketed leads her to believe there is a traitor in the camp.

She can also give you the Quest if she isn't in your party and you approach her at 18 after having had the conference with Marshall Nederlok, General Stonehand and Torsin de Lancie at 21.

  2. Speak to Mizhena at 9 and ask her about her stolen candle. She'll initially accuse you of being the thief. The key is to return her threats in kind multiple times and not back down. She'll recognize you as a 'fierce warrior' and then indicate her suspicion that Malden Col is the thief.

  3. Speak to Vigilant Halasan at 30. You can ask her about a paper that Safana stole. She'll be less suspicious of you at the outset if you had successfully completed the Troop Train Quest for her beforehand. You can still otherwise get what you need from her, but she'll need a little convincing. She'll either way tell you to speak to Simonetta Twoedged.

  4. Speak to Simonetta Twoedged at 28. You can also ask her about that same paper that Safana stole. Simonetta will indicate that it's a cipher paper outlining strategies for coming battles against the Crusade, and will want it back. You can convince her that you need to hold onto it for the time in order to discover the traitor, and then she'll reveal that she shared her book with somebody named Malden Col. There is also an additional dialogue option that mentions you've helped Vigilant Halasan train recruits if you previously completed the Troop Train Quest.

  5. Speak to Belegarm at 3 and ask him about the potion bottle. He's initially reluctant as he's busy, but he'll oblige if pressed. There's an additional dialogue option if you previously completed The Uncommon Cold Quest. He'll voice a suspicion that Helvdar may have taken it.

  6. Speak to Helvdar at 4 and ask him about the potion bottle. He admits to having lost it while playing cards, but is reluctant to reveal who exactly won it from him. A dialogue option based on previously completing the Quest called Helvdar's Lucky Charm, or paying him 20gp, will convince him to reveal that it was Malden Col who won the potion bottle.

Alternatively, you could accuse him repeatedly of being the traitor, which results in him attacking you and a -1 loss of reputation. He has mundane gear and a Potion of Healing.

  7. Speak to Malden Col at 32 about any of the stolen items. He'll readily confess to his espionage and gladly go to the gallows as a martyr.

  8. Speak to Marshall Nederlok at 38 and inform him of the outcome.

He'll give the party 6,000xp and offer the party the Short Bow called Fleshripper. You can refuse acceptance of Fleshripper to get +1 to Reputation instead.

If you speak to Marshall Nederlok after killing Helvdar, you'll only get the 6,000xp.

*NOTE* Successfully completing the Quest with the result of either Malden Col's or Helvdar's death amounts to a Villainous Deed for purposes of Disturbing Implications.
