You'll find yourself here after defeating Kolasz. The party members you had during Baldur's Gate 1 and during the Prologue won't be with you anymore. You'll be by yourself to start.
You'll awaken on this bed to start Chapter 7. There will also be a Treasury Note in your inventory, addressed to you by somebody named Ophyllis. It helps start the Quest called My Missed Fortune.
Imoen will remain here after you have fought your way through the rest of the Ducal Palace, and after you've explored the rest of Baldur's Gate as much as you feel the need to.
*NOTE* Speak to her after you've recruited all the allies you can or want to, Safana, Dynaheir and Minsc. Skie will interrupt your sleep, and inform you of her intentions to join the Flaming Fist in the search for some excitement in her life. Make your way back down to the first floor of the Palace at 13 after that.
Here is a chest that will contain items from your swag inventory and the swag inventories of any characters who had been with you during the Prologue. It will also travel with you as you make progress with the Coalition's efforts against the Crusade, so it provides an opportunity to store anything you want, including items you want for companions who will join your party in the future.
Here is where you'll fight a few Assassins who are chasing after Imoen. One of them will leave behind a Parchment that indicates you were their intended target. Imoen will fall sick, but not dead, to their poison. Corwin and Liia Jannath will arrive and implore you to root out the rest of the Assassins in the Palace.
These stairs connect to stairs at points marked 6 on the map of the second level, but not until you've dealt with the Assassins targeting Imoen.
There will come a time where you've done all that is possible to do or want to do in Baldur's Gate. Progressing the expansion to Chapter 8 requires indicating to Corwin that you're ready to march to Dragonspear. She'll indicate that you should speak to Imoen and rest up before setting off. Returning to Level Three will result in your first encounter with the Hooded Man, who indicates that he will be watching your progress and evaluating you. This encounter starts the Disturbing Implications Quest.
Speak to Imoen near 1 after that. That will prompt a rest, leading to Skie waking you up. The dialogue with Skie starts the Quest called Skie's Grand Plan.
These stairs connect to stairs at points marked 5 on the map of the third level.
You'll have to fight a few more Assassins here, but you'll be helped out by Corwin and a couple of Flaming Fist Enforcers.
Each of these tables has a Bottle of Wine, but they have no apparent use in Siege of Dragonspear.
You'll get attacked by three more Assassins in this room, and you'll have to fight them by yourself.
Clearing the Palace of the Assassins is progress for purposes of the Important Events Quest.
Here you'll have a conference with Liia Jannath, Duke Silvershield, Duke Eltan and Corwin. Caelar Argent and her Shining Crusade have apparently marked you for assassination.
You will have a second conference with the Dukes here after you make progress by starting the Disturbing Implications and Skie's Grand Plan Quests. You are to join the Coalition forces and lead the siege against Dragonspear Castle.
You will have an opportunity at the end of the conference to decide whether or not you want to betray Skie's plans to Duke Entar Silvershield. It turns out he already knew of it and hopes that it will lead to character growth for her, but also wants you to ensure she is unharmed. He also gives you a Ring of Protection +2 out of gratitude for you telling him.
Skie, the same Skie who was a joinable companion during BG1, will want to talk to you here. She'll drop the rumor that Caelar Argent is herself a Bhaalspawn. She'll also want to meet you outside.
These stairs lead to the Basement of the Ducal Palace at 19.
This door leads to the Courtyard of the Ducal Palace at 26.
Corwin will be right by the door before you leave the Palace and enter the Courtyard for the first time. Speaking to her starts the Recruitment Drive Quest.
She will also follow you around Baldur's Gate. She'll be right on your heels as you explore outdoor areas of the city, but will remain just inside the door whenever you enter any indoor areas.
Making enough progress through Chapter 7 means either making enough progress with the Recruitment Drive Quest by speaking to enough candidates for your party, or having all of Dynaheir and Minsc and Safana in your party. Corwin will at some point drop a hint that you should set out soon for Dragonspear Castle. If you've done all you can or want to do in Baldur's Gate, including any side quests, then return here. Speak to Corwin again and tell her you're ready to march to Dragonspear. She'll indicate that you should speak to Imoen (who's still resting on the bed at 1) and rest up before setting off.
These stairs lead to the first floor of the Ducal Palace at 17.
This table will have a Cell Key. It can be used to open the Doppelganger's cell at 23.
Korlasz will be here if you previously convinced her to turn herself in instead of killing her during the Prologue. She'll break out of her cell if you approach it, and force you to kill her. Flaming Fist Enforcers will help you out against her. If you afterwards ask the Enforcers if Korlasz was acting alone, one of them will indicate that a Doppelganger who had been serving her was also arrested and is in one of the holding cells. That opens up a greater number of possibilities for purposes of The Fist Restrained Quest.
The Doppelganger who is the focus of The Fist Restrained Quest will be imprisoned in this cell. The door to his cell can be opened either by a Thief with a good enough Locks skill or with the Cell Key from the table at 21.
These barrels will have wine, but not the kind of wine that Irina at the Elfsong Tavern is looking for.
Here are Perren and Garachen. Garachen is the focus of the Quest called Refuge for the Refugees.
These exits lead to the map of Baldur's Gate, from which you can travel to other locations in the city.
Ophyllis will approach you when you come near one of the exits for the first time, as a continuation of the Quest called My Missed Fortune.
You will be at this spot if you return to the Ducal Palace after having been in another Chapter 7 area of Baldur's Gate. It is also another exit to the map of Baldur's Gate.
Corwin will be here after you've started the Disturbing Implications and Skie's Grand Plan Quests, and have had a second conference with the Dukes of Baldur's Gate at 13 in Level One.
She'll have parting words with her daughter, Rhoma, and then head over to the gate at 26 without actually stepping through the gate and entering the Palace.
Viconia will be at 32 if you want to recruit her before setting out to march. Don't worry if you miss out on the opportunity now, there will be another one very soon.
Speak with Corwin again at the gate at 26, and she'll ask if you're ready. Do so if you're ready to move on. Corwin and yourself and several Flaming Fist soldiers will march past the crowd that has gathered near the gate.
That leads to a cutscene of you and the troops marching in between the Sorcerous Sundries and the Elfsong Tavern. Some members of the crowd will heckle you for being a child of Bhaal no better than Sarevok. Corwin gives them a piece of her mind. You can tell her you're going to ignore the heckling, which will have no repercussions in terms of reputation. Or you can take the opportunity to respond to the crowd. You can rally the crowd behind the cause of the Coalition, which leads to +1 reputation. Or you can tell the crowd they need to fear your wrath, which leads to -1 reputation. This event is also progress for purposes of the Important Events Quest.
