DOWN WITH THE DRAWBRIDGE

The objective is lower the drawbridge to Bridgefort, either to force its defenders to surrender or to start a fight with the Crusaders then and there.

Boareskyr Bridge

  1. Kharm is at 10 near Boareskyr Bridge.

One way to get the Quest is by informing him that you have the Wardstone from the Temple of Cyric while actually having it in your inventory. Another way is to ask him for an assignment if you do not yet have the Wardstone. Completing this Quest is mutually exclusive from completing The Desperate Defenders Quest.

Go through the teleportation circle at 5 when you have the Wardstone.
  2. Bridgefort

  3. You'll now be at 1 in Bridgefort. Go through the door at 9.
  4. Boareskyr Bridge

  5. Now you'll be at 26 near Boareskyr Bridge.

The drawbridge is at 30 and is guarded by Estebarre and Mari. There's more than one way to get the drawbridge open.

Perhaps the easiest way is to threaten Mari into opening the drawbridge herself.

Mari has the Drawbridge Key. You can kill her for it. It will result in anyone aligned with the Coalition in the courtyard going hostile, as well as anyone else in Bridgefort.

You can pickpocket her for it, but it will require a high Pickpocket skill to pull off. If you do, simply click on the drawbridge to lower it.

  6. The Crusaders will gather at the other end of the drawbridge after you lower it. The Barghest in some sort of magnanimous display proclaims that he's mercifully allowing the defenders to leave with their lives. He will however be curious about who you are and what your motives for lowering the drawbridge were.

Admitting that you lowered the drawbridge on assignment from Kharm results in a -2 loss of reputation.

Threatening The Barghest or admitting that you're the Hero of Baldur's Gate leads to a fight with The Barghest and the Crusaders, which starts The Battle For Bridgefort Quest. Using a false alias, "Liam Ensler", will allow you to leave the fort without a fight. Keep in mind that avoiding a fight against the Crusade here will result in more enemies to fight during the final battle.
