It is an area that you need to pass through to reach either Dragonspear Castle or the Underground River. But there's still plenty of monsters to fight and loot to collect here if you're thorough in your explorations.
There will be a pack of Displacer Beasts to fight here, led by a Displacer Pack Lord, at these points.
A Gnoll named Gnaler and a Kobold named Kambolder will be here. They'll be rather friendly, and offer you a Portrait of themselves.
A trio of Hill Giants will stand guard here.
There will be groups of Phase Spiders to fight at these points, sometimes led by a Gargantuan Spider.
A group of Hobgoblin Marksmen and Scouts will be here, behind a trap on the bridge. The Marksmen have Arrows of Piercing, while the Scouts have Arrows of Ice. Their leader, a Hobgoblin Captain, will try to hit the party with an Oil of Fiery Burning. He also has a Potion of Healing. The Hobgoblin Priest doesn't leave behind anything remarkable.
There will be Bombardier Beetles and Boring Beetles here.
Nuber will be here. You can kill him without any reputation penalty. But unlike Noober, his spirit will keep on talking after you've killed him. Patiently enduring through his prattle, which focuses on a pair of boots, will eventually lead to a 500xp reward after he tires of it and leaves.
Here are Horst and Stalia, a pair of merchants who sell mostly jewelry and a few potions.
There will be pair of Ettins and a few Dire Wolves here.
Here are alternative points to leave the area and access the World Map.
There will be Ogres and Half-Ogre Veterans led by an Ogre Chieftain and an Ogre Mage to fight here. The Veterans each have a Potion of Healing and an Antidote. The Chieftain has 2 Potions of Healing.
A few Hill Giants and Worgs, led by a Hill Giant Leader, will be here.
Here is the entrance to a Spider Cave. You will have to fight a few Spiders in front of it.
You will have to fight a Hamadryad and two Shambling Mounds here. The Hamadryad leaves behind an Amulet called the Heart of the Mountain.
There will be a large group of Orogs that includes two Orog Elites, an Orog Marauder, an Orog Priest, and led by an Orog Chieftain here. The Marauder has a Potions of Invisibility. The Elites have 2 Potion of Healing and two more random Potions. The Chieftain carries:
There will be more Bombardier Beetles and Boring Beetles to fight here. The trapdoor that leads to the Hidden Cellar will be visible here as well.
Here you'll see the forms of a female warrior and an Earth Elemental fighting each other if you're wearing the Spectacles of Spectacle. You can use the Spectacles of Spectacle to pull one or the other into the Material Plane, but not both.
The Earth Elemental will attack once it's pulled. You'll get 11,000xp and 4 Emeralds after defeating it.
The warrior is a Tiefling named Raeanndra. She'll give you the Ring of the Tiny Fiend as gratitude. You can attack and kill her before she finishes walking away. If you do, you'll get 2,500xp, a Ninjato +1, a Wakizashi +1, and a Studded Leather +2.
