Going through the door brings you to #1 on the map of The
Dark Cupboard. You will notice an argument between the shopkeeper,
Fassina, and her boyfriend, Bertenno. He steals an item and flees from
the Cupboard. Speaking with her reveals that she fears the wrath of her
mentor, the Archmage named Arkemyr, should he ever learn that she let an
item get stolen from the Cupboard. She would appreciate your help
getting back the item that Bertenno stole. The conversation will trigger
the Task.
Bertenno will be at #5. A very quick way to get Rokowa's
Fingers is to pickpocket them from him. He'll promptly leave in a
frantic worry, and you can promptly return to Fassina.
Speaking to
him leads to him becoming obnoxious and uncooperative. But then a Ruatai
named Hamuta Stoneheel arrives on the scene, and wants to take Bertenno
into indentured servitude as repayment for Bertenno's debt. There's more
than one way to handle the situation:
You can choose to attack Hamuta, but this option is unlikely to
come off since the entirety of the Brass Citadel will join the
attack against you.
You can pay off Bertenno's debt of 400cp, which will earn
reputation with both the Royal Deadfire Company and the Principi.
You can allow Hatuma to take Bertenno into servitude, but then buy
back Rokowa's Fingers for
100cp.
You can allow Hatuma to take Bertenno into servitude, but then
make any one of an Arcane, Insight, Streetwise check of 1 to
convince him to give you the gloves without payment. The Watcher
being a Wizard or Rogue also enable that result.
Now it's time to head back to Fassina. There are multiple ways of
completing the task:
You can lie and keep Rokowa's
Fingers for yourself, but it earns Shady disposition. You
won't have this option if you had pickpocketed Bernetto.
You can simply give them to Fassina.
You can sell them to her for 500cp.
You can sell them to her for an increased price of 600cp if you
make a Streetwise check of 4 that earns Clever disposition.
Note that you can still purchase Rokowa's
Fingers from her store even if you select one of the options that
involves giving or selling them to her.
