The Burden of Memory

Stalwart Village

  1. The Burden of Memory is the personal quest of Maneha. First, you need Part 2 of the White March expansion installed. Next, you need to have cleared the Crag Ogres out of Stalwart Village during White March Part 1. After that, you need to go to a different area that is accessible through the White March Map, and then return. Once those conditions are met, Maneha will be at #10 on the map of Stalwart Village during White March Part 1, and is willing to join your party with very little effort on your part.

  2. After that, rest with her in the party. She will, once everyone wakes, speak with you and express a desire to find a place known as the Abbey of the Moon.

  3. Abbey of the Fallen Moon

  4. If Maneha is with you when you either kill Adaryc or convince him to leave willingly so as to conclude The Iron Flail quest, she will speak to you again. She initially brings up the subject of the Eyeless, to which Aggressive and Clever replies are available. She gets around to explaining why she wants to find the Abbey. She is burdened by a memory from one of her past lives of having committed a horrific atrocity against the elders and children of a village she had conquered. Her purpose in finding the Abbey is that there is supposed to be a Salt Well within that can erase that memory for her.

If Maneha was not with you at the conclusion of The Iron Flail quest, but you subsequently bring her to the Abbey of the Fallen Moon, that is when she will have that conversation with you.

  5. The next goal is to reach the Halls of Presence. There will be doors leading into the Halls at #8, #10 and #20.

  6. Halls of Presence

  7. You may start off at any one of #1, #18 or #22 on the map of the Halls of Presence, depending on which doorway you used to come in.

  8. High Abbott KaotoThe Salt Well that Maneha is searching for is at #32. Approaching it causes her to hesitate, at which point you have two basic choices.

  9. You can try to talk her out of going through with it. Doing so requires selecting the dialogue option that suggests having the memory may have prevented her from committing a similar atrocity in her present life, and immediately followed thereafter by the dialogue option that suggests that having the memory may have taught her restraint. If you succeed, she will balk and obtain the Satisfied Mind talent, which gives her +2 Resolve.

  10. It is by comparison much easier to encourage her to go through with it. Clever dialogue options will be available twice as she submerges herself in the pool. A Lore check of 8 will make it easier to remind her that she needs to offer her wineskin to Ondra to facilitate the process. A pair of tentacles will at some point pull her down. A Benevolent dialogue option will be available when she emerges. She will then have the Clean Conscience talent, which gives her +2 Dexterity.

  11. Whichever choice you make for her, it marks the end of her quest, and will affect her fate after the end of the game.
