The Long Hunt is the personal quest of Sagani, and begins the moment you let her join your party. She can be found at #16 in the Woodend Plains. You can begin the initial conversation with Benevolent or Diplomatic responses. You'll soon notice that she carries a bear figurine of adra with her. That in turn makes available Honest, Deceptive, Diplomatic or Stoic responses. She'll reveal that the bear figurine helps her by glowing more brightly the closer she gets to her former mentor, Persoq. However, she is frustrated in her quest since any peaks in the figurine's glows are soon followed by receding ebbs. You can ask to see it, but she'll be initially reluctant, whereupon you can use Honest, Diplomatic or Passionate responses. A Perception of 15 or 18 reveals that Persoq is standing over a cliff that both overlooks a town or a body of water. Being able to make the higher check of 18 will supply the additional detail that the body of water is an ocean.
You can next advance the quest by going to #12 in the Pearlwood Bluff. Your Watcher abilities will give you a vision that Persoq has been at that spot recently. It is also possible to gain information about where Persoq has gone next.
A Lore check of 6 reveals that there are Adra pillars near where Persoq went to. A Survival check of 8 reveals that there will be fresh water nearby. If Eder is in the party, he will suggest that the location is near Twin Elms.
You can choose either a Clever option or a Deceptive option near the end of your ensuing conversation with Sagani.
The next destination is the Adra Arch at #6 in Elmshore. A Watcher vision will reveal that yet again Persoq was here but has since departed.
A Lore check of 9 reveals that the next destination is near a Glanfathan settlement. A Survival check of 12 reveals that the next destination is in the mountains. If Hiravias is in the party, he'll suggest looking in the mountains near Twin Elms.
You start off at #1 on the map of Northweald. Sagani will announce that her adra bear figurine is now glowing.
You will finally find Persoq at #19. His spirit is now in the body of a great Stag, which was been mortally wounded by Fangs hunters surrounding it.
It will take Sagani a little bit to let it sink in what exactly has happened. The Fangs will mock her as she does. Passionate and Stoic replies are now possible.
Next, you will have the opportunity to counsel Sagani on how to handle the shock of what has happened. Your choice will determine her epilogue at the end of your game. One choice suggests to her that the whole is meaningless and doesn't matter, another choice counsels her to explain to Persoq the impact he has had on Massuk, and another choice urges to to explain the importance Persoq had to his family. There's a fourth choice, telling her to follow her instincts. If you make that choice, then she'll go with any one of deciding it doesn't matter, telling Persoq about his impact on Massuk, or telling Persoq about his importance to his family, depending on which you emphasized as being important during previous conversations with her.
If you went with emphasizing that it was meaningless and didn't matter, then Sagani will come down and the Fangs will leave peacefully.
However, if you emphasize Persoq's impact either on Massuk or his family, Sagani will still be angry over his death. The dialogue options that emphasize avoiding bloodshed, or letting the Hunters have their ritual, will dissuade Sagani from picking a fight. The Hunters will leave peacefully, and you'll gain a minor boost to positive reputation with the Fangs.
If you choose either the Diplomatic option, or the Resolve check of 16, a fight will result. If you win, the loot will include:
