Upper Bowels

  1. This exit leads back to The Scriptorium at #10.

  2. Bile PoolHere is a pool with three flesh ducts that pour bile into it. The key to making progress im The Inner Mysteries Quest is to find a way to stop all three ducts from pouring bile. Refer to points marked #6, #18 and #22 for how to do that.

Once you do that, the pool will be clear of bile and reveal a tunnel to The Heart of the Mystery at #1.

  3. Here is the Memory Siphon. The Deep Wrangler guards it, along with several Shimmering Dreambeasts and Scavengers of Visions. The traps in this room are actually magical glyphs that can cause Injuries and cannot be disarmed. It may be advisable to overpower the Wrangler and her minions through ranged combat (i.e., missile weapons and spells) first. You can safely walk around the glyphs afterwards.

However, the glyphs won't be in the room if you completed the Quest called A Shout in the Dark in a way that favored Tayn.

  4. This pedestal has an Outer Godseed Fragment.

  5. This chest has the Alchemical Charge and Clearing the Southeast Tunnels. The Caretakers in the chamber will attack you if they catch you taking the items while not in Stealth mode.

The Alchemical Charge can be used to destroy the conduit at #6.

  6. This is one of three ducts that keeps the pool at #2 filled with bile. Use the Alchemical Charge from the chest at #5 on it to destroy it. Doing so will cause the Caretakers in the chamber to go hostile.

  7. This door can only be opened by using the lever next to it on the south side.

  8. Here is the Fungal Ingredient. You need to make an Alchemy check of 16 or a Sleight of Hand check of 18 to obtain it safely. Grabbing it without making a check means you'll still get it, but the Watcher will suffer the Acute Rash (-5 Fortitude, -3 Corrosive Armor Rating) Injury as a result.

  9. Here is another pedestal that has an Outer Godseed Fragment.

  10. There will be another rune device here, this one surrounded by four lecterns. Two to its left and two to its right.

There will also be two Luminescent Spores, as well as several Infected Caretakers and Luminescent Sporelings, that will attack you.

You'll need to use the books from the nearby shelves and place some of them on the lecterns. The proper order from left to right is The History of Eora, Volume XI: The Rediscovery of Yezuha, The History of Eora, Volume XIV: The Vanishing of the Godlike, The History of Eora, Volume XIII: The Last Ice Age and The History of Eora, Volume XV: The Throne of Woedica.

Now use the rune device to open the door at #15.

*NOTE* If you previously reached a peaceful understanding with the Giant Luminescent Spore in the Quarantined Section, the Luminescent Spores and their minions here won't attack you. In fact, they'll open the door at #15 for you.

  11. There will be three bookshelves here. Between them they have:

  12. This chest has a pair of slippers called the Dreamwalker's Tread.

  13. This bookshelf has The History of Eora, Volume XII: The Reclamation of the Living Lands.

  14. There will be two bookshelves here. Between them they have:

  15. This door will open if you properly use the rune device and lecterns at #10.

  16. There will be The Bowels Alchemist and a few Shimmering Dreambeasts who will attack on sight once you enter this chamber.

  17. This table has Antiseptic Cream, as well as a note called Fungal Growth Concerns.

  18. Here is another of the ducts that keeps the pool at #2 filled with bile. Use the Antiseptic Cream from #17 and the Fungal Ingredient from #8 on it. The liquid going through it will solidify and block the duct itself.

  19. This door can only be opened with the lever on the east side of it.

  20. Here is the Celestial Remnant. Trying to obtain a Fragment of Starmetal from it is the focus of the Quest called Out of Eternal Horizons.

  21. This chamber will have several Shimmering Dreambeasts, Scavengers of Visions and Observers that will attack you on sight.

  22. There will be a very large eye here, flanked by two Polyps. Destroy the Polyps to destroy the large eye as well. That will both stop one of the ducts from pouring bile into the pool at #2, and open the door at #24.

  23. Here is Blinky, a miniature Observer that you can take as a Pet.

  24. This door will open after destroying the large eye at #22.
