Endless Paths - Level 13

Endless Paths, Level 13

Engwithan Machine Part

I start off at #1 on the map of the 13th level. I go north a bit, and then a little west, where I have to kill a few Cean Gwlas.

A tunnel leads southwards. Devil of Caroc disarms three traps along them, using her Gloves of Manipulation when she has to. A large container at #2 has the Engwithan Machine Part, which is one of the adra pieces that Tcharek wants as part of The Master's Tools quest.

*Evil* First Engwithan Spirit

Here I show the perspective of the evil party. Just a little north of the room at #3 will be a Cean Gwla and an Adra Animat. I send Zahua on ahead to get their attention, but he stops himself just at the doorway. The Cean Gwla teleports behind him and towards the rest of the party, who promptly kill it. Zahua meanwhile simply kills the Adra Animat with his Greenstone Staff.

There will be a couple more Adra Animats just a little west of #3. I have Zahua kill them himself with his staff, while the rest of the party stays out it. However, I have Durance help Zahua by casting Consecrated Ground and Dire Blessing (which increases the probability of Critical Hits).

Zahua has now obtained the last upgrade for his Greenstone Staff, so that its Quality Enchantment is raised to Superb and it now allows Zahua to cast Ironskin on himself twice per Rest. It also gives him an option to fight from behind the tanks during crowd control + bottleneck situations where he's unlikely to be able to reach his enemies with his axes.

There will be several Spirits in the room at #3. Zakara, who has previously completed the Undying Heritage quest, can communicate with one of the spirits in the Engwithan language, and thereby learn a necessary clue for opening the door at #20.

Adra Shell

I defeat an Adra Beetle and an Adra Animat at #6. An urn at #7 has the Adra Shell, which is one of the adra pieces that Tcharek wants as part of The Master's Tools quest.

Lastly, I disarm a couple of traps near the door at #20.

Second Engwithan Spirit

I defeat several Adra Animats and an Adra Beetle at #8. Again, several spirits appear afterwards, and speaking with one of them will provide a clue for opening the door at #20.

Third Engwithan Spirit

I continue along the east side of the level, defeating several more Adra Animats along the way. Several more spirits will be at #15, and speaking with one of them will provide a clue for opening the door at #20.

Fourth Engwithan Spirit

I continue to the room at #16, where I defeat several Cean Gwlas. Another spirit appears, and I speak to him to learn a vital clue for opening the door at #20.

*NOTE* If I had elected to obtain knowledge from Maerwald much earlier, instead of freeing his spirit or binding him to Caed Nua, I could now click on the table in the room to open the door at #18. On the other side, at #19, will be a Sabre capable of using Fireball three times per rest called The Flames of Fair Rhian. An interesting possibility, but ultimately a triviality in my long-term view compared to an enduring bonus to either Prestige or Security for the stronghold.

Gleaming Adra Fragment

Devil of Caroc disarms a couple of traps near #14 with the help of her Gloves of Manipulation.

The container at #14 itself has the Gleaming Adra Fragment, which is one of the adra pieces that Tcharek wants as part of The Master's Tools quest.

With all three pieces in hand, I go back up the stairs at #1 and to the 12th level.

Endless Paths, Level 12

*Evil* 14th Level

Everyone now has enough experience to advance to their 14th levels.

Zakara gets the Deep Faith talent, which will add +8 to her Deflection and +17 to all of her other Defenses. Even a little boost to Deflection can be helpful for a Damage Dealer, if for no other reason than that it will sometimes reduce Critical Hits to standard Hits instead. The boost to other Defenses is certainly welcome as well.

Eder acquires Weapon Mastery: Noble, which increases the damage of his Measured Restraint rapier by 10%.

Maneha acquires Veteran's Recovery. It is a weaker version of the Fighter's Constant Recovery, which will give her a slight amount of regeneration. Such is always welcome for a tank character.

Zahua acquires the Weapon Focus: Knight talent, which will increase his accuracy with his axes, well as his Greenstone Staff since it is a soulbound weapon.

Durance selects the Inspired Flame talent, which will provide hefty +10 bonuses to both his Arquebus and (pretty soon) his sword as well.

Aloth acquires the Heart of the Storm talent, which increases his Shocking Damage. I get it now as he's only recently learned the Chain Lightning spell.

He also learns Ninagauth's Killing Bolt, which will inflict plenty of Raw Damage on a single target.

The Master's Tools

Kestorik is initially disposed towards attacking me once I try to go back past him. He'll attack even if you try to give him the Adra items. There's at least three ways to avoid a fight.

Now I go back to Tcharek. First, I inform him of Kestorik picking a fight with me to get rewarded with a Sapphire. It is afterwards I give him the Adra items to complete The Master's Tools quest, and get rewarded with a Dagger called Drawn in Spring.

After that, I make my way back down to the 13th level.

*Evil* The Master's Tools

Zakara had already wiped out Kestorik and his minions. Once she gets to Tcharek, she instead chooses the Aggressive option that presses for more of a reward. Tcharek obliges with a Ta Ondra Tara, two Topazes and a Ruby.

*NOTE* Krivi will now be a merchant who can sell some enhanced armors and weapons, as well as some scrolls and gems. The one distinct item in his inventory, if you're interested, is a Grimoire called The Leaves of Essence. Aloth by this point pretty much has most of what he needs though.

Speaking Door

I disarm a few more traps in the central hub of the 13th level. I then click on the door at #20. Opening it during the scripted interaction requires clues and knowledge obtained from the four spirits of this level, so as to provide the correct answer that starts with: "I am an Enemy of Od Nua.".

*Evil* Guardian of Od Nua

I show this part from the perspective of the evil party. The video begins with Zakara switching over to her St. Ydwen's Redeemer.

Waiting at #21 will be an enormous Adra Animat called the Guardian of Od Nua, along with a few other Adra Animats, a pair of Cean Gwlas, and a pair of Adragans.

Zakara begins by tagging the Guardian of Od Nua with Sworn Enemy, and then activating her Sacred Immolation power.

Durance begins an extended sequence of: Prayer Against Imprisonment (to protect against the Cean Gwlas), Prayer Against Treachery (to protect against the Adragans), Devotions for the Faithful, Consecrated Ground, Circle of Protection, Salvation of Time, and then Interdiction.

Aloth uses a sequence of Essential Phantom, Llengrath's Safeguard, and then Eldritch Aim. He then unleashes two Death Ring spells in succession. The battle is won in rather short order.

The Guardian leaves behind a Battle Axe called the Edge of Reason. It becomes Zahua's other axe for the rest of the game. It's key feature, and one especially relevant to Monks who need to take damage to empower themselves, is the ability to recoup Endurance on each hit. Alongside Wei Toki, it becomes part of a tremendous dual-wielding combination for a Monk. One axe will knock enemies Prone, while the other recoups the Monk's Endurance. And both inflict more damage on critical hits. I also added the Burning Lash and Beast Slaying enchantments to it.

The stairs to the 14th level of Endless Paths is at #23.
