Never Far From the Queen

You must first have completed The Old Watcher quest. Maerwald, immediately prior to the final battle of that quest, will have occasionally made references to 'the queen.'

The completion of the previous quest which in turn leads to Caed Nua becoming your stronghold, and the Eastern Barbican being rebuilt which will allow you to explore areas beyond the stronghold. The Steward, during the conversation in which you take up stewardship over Caed Nua, will indicate that 'the queen' refers to the goddess named Woedica, and that she has a temple in the city of Defiance Bay. It is that particular dialogue that triggers this quest.

First Fires

  1. Your first step for this quest is to travel to the First Fires district in Defiance Bay. At #10 is a seemingly abandoned Temple of Woedica that has been reduced to a pile of rubble.

    Copperlane

You'll encounter a ghost here, who explains that the real temple may be accessed through the Copperlane Catacombs, the entrance to which is at #13 in the Copperlane District.

  2. Copperlane Catacombs

  3. You intially enter at #1 on the Catacombs map. There will be a fight at #4 against many Sporelings and Trolls, as well as a few Dank Spores. Strictly speaking the fight isn't necessary to resolve the quest. However, a corpse at #6 has the Woedica Hood, which is certainly helpful if you want to resolve the quest in a way that doesn't involve slaughtering everything in sight. The entrance to the Temple of Woedica is at #22.

  4. Temple of Woedica

  5. You now start off at #1 on the Temple map. At #6 is Hafcmg, a Priest who stands guard over the entrance to the Temple proper. If you wish to complete the quest without fighting everyone, then you will need to bluff your way past him without arousing his suspicions. That requires one of an Intellect score of 13, a Resolve score of 13, or a bribe of 350cp.

  6. At #9 is the Intiate. You can trick him into practicing the password phrases to you.

  7. Shrouded WomanYour next goal is to reach the Shrouded Woman at #16. You will be given an opportunity to don the Woedica Hood beforehand, even if your character is a Godlike.

If you enter the chamber without the Woedica Hood, or if you enter the chamber with the rest of the party, the Shrouded Woman and her minions will all attack you. If you enter the chamber alone, AND had put the Woedica Hood on beforehand, then she will drill you on the proper passwords. The proper passwords will always be the very first dialogue options if you had previously learned the passwords from the Initiate. Once that happens, the Shrouded Woman will share three visions, each of which trigger the next three main storyline quests. Those quests are The Man Who Waits, Through Death's Gate, and Undying Heritage.

  8. Alternatively, you can also slaughter anyone and everyone in the Temple. If you do it that way, you'll end up using your Watcher powers to communicate with the spirit of the Shrouded Woman to get the three visions. That will still make the next three main quests available.
