The Theorems of Pandgram

Crucible Keep

  1. Nedyn will be at #17 on the Brackenbury map. She'll want you to steal a Codex named The Theorems of Pandgram from the Hall of Revealed Mysteries for her. A Benevolent option is possible during this conversation.
  2. Copperlane

  3. The entrance to Hall of Revealed Mysteries is at #17 on the Copperlane map.
  4. Hall of Revealed Mysteries

  5. If you are determined to grab the codex, your significant obstacle is the door at #13 on the map of the Hall of Revealed Mysteries. There is also, conveniently, a Priest of Wael standing nearby who will sound the alarm if he catches you opening the door without authorization. There are multiple ways to deal with this obstacle.

The door itself requires either the Key to the Elder Archive, or a good enough Mechanics skill, to open. You could simply slaughter everyone in the temple. The Priests and Scriveners here will have behind Maces and Robes. The High Archivist named Grima, who's at #10, will leave behind the Key to the Elder Archive when killed.

A character with good enough ranks in both the Mechanics and Stealth skills can open the door while in scouting mode and retreat before the nearby Priest notices. The stealth character can then sneak inside the room and retrieve what Nedyn wants.

If you had previously completed The Parable of Wael task such that Grimda willingly gave you the Key to the Elder Archive, then you can simply use the key to open the door and get what you need inside without anyone objecting.

  6. The bookcase at #16 has The Life and Discoveries of Pandgram. The book itself isn't needed to complete the quest, but it does shed light on the nature of the codex that Nedyn wants and raises questions as to whether or not you should get it for her.

  7. The trapped chest at #17 has the Theorems of Pandgram that Nedyn wants.

  8. When you return to Nedyn, she'll give you 500cp if you managed to bring her the Theorems of Pandgram without killing Grimda. She'll only give 400cp if you had killed Grimda.

A Benevolent option will rest content with her cash reward. If you press her for more, possibly with a Diplomatic dialogue option, then she'll also give you the Ring of Eternal Funding.

*NOTE* There is an alternative way to complete the quest.

  9. You can inform Grimda of Nedyn's intentions. Grimda would then reward you with 200cp, and a minor boost to positive reputation with Defiance Bay. She'll also bar Nedyn completely from the Hall of Revealed Mysteries, which leads to ...
  10. Woodend Plains

  11. PenhelmIf you had ratted out Nedyn to Grimda, then Nedyn will be at #13 on the Woodend Plains. She will be very upset, and no dialogue options will get you out of a fight with her and a few other Wizards she's brought along. They cast low-level spells, so the fight shouldn't be that difficult. They leave behind:
