This Quest begins once you've concluded The Rite of Passage Quest by speaking to Humaire at #11 in the Temple of Toamowhai. She recognizes that you're now a fully-fledged contestant for The Crucible. You must now bring back objects that are either of value to Kazuwari or further prove your mettle to the Pool of Memories, and then win the new challenges that become available. She also advises you to speak to Engari at #10.
Engari indicates that each of the Seeker's Face, Slayer's Face and Survivor's Face want an artifact of importance brought back to them. And bringing back an artifact means that the Face that values it will open up new challenges for you. You can open up any or all of The Seeker's Face, The Slayer's Face and The Survivor's Face Quests by indicating a willingness to retrieve an artifact for a Face during the dialogue.
You can pursue challenges available under all of the Quests. But in the end you can only complete all of the challenges for one of the Quests, and thereby pledge exclusive allegiance to only one of the Faces. You can do all of the challenges for one of the faces until the last challenge for each Face. For example, you can do all the challenges for the Seeking Face until The Challenge of the Seeker. Completing The Challenge of the Seeker will then commit you to an exclusive alliance with the Seeking Face. The equivalent challenges for the other faces are The Challenge of the Slayer and The Challenge of the Survivor.
Engari will, once any of those Quests starts, open the door at #12 for you. It provides access to Kazuwari at #7.
You now have choices about what to do with the accumulating soul essence in the arena at the end of the last battle for your Face Quest. They're the same choices you had at the end of The Rite of Passage:
You can attempt to send the souls back to the Wheel, but something will block that attempt.
Return the energy to the Crucible and the wildlife of Kazuwari. The Watcher gains a passive ability, Galawain's Gift (+2 Accuracy vs. Beasts). If you previously had this Gift from The Rite of Passage then the Accuracy vs. Beasts bonus will stack to +4.
Destroy the soul energy. The Watcher gains a passive ability, Rymrgand's Gift (+2 Accuracy vs. Vessels). If you previously had this Gift from The Rite of Passage then the Accuracy vs. Vessels bonus will stack to +4.
Channel it into Muatu, which is apparently supposed to make the summoning of Muatu's Head more powerful.
You can channel it into yourself to gain a Culmination Stone. You can use it to upgrade the enchantment of any armor, weapon or shield from Superb to Legendary.
