Root and Branch

The Central Stacks

  1. The Spore Infested Librarians at #19 in The Central Stacks will attack you on sight.

    One item that they leave behind will be Log: Subject K-1121's Confiscated Possessions, which indicates that Bekarna has been taken captive.

    Another item they leave behind is The Annals of Llengrath, Volume I of V. Picking this item up starts the Quest.

  2. You'll get attacked by several more Spore Infested Librarians at #20, along with Luminescent Sporelings and a couple of Spore Tendrils.

    There will also a large fungus outgrowth after the battle. You can interact with it during a scripted interaction, but the option to strike it doesn't accomplish anything.

    The stairs at #21 lead to the Quarantined Section at #1.

  3. There be will Spore Infested Librarians, Luminescent Sporelings and Luminescent Spores to fight at #5.

    A lectern in the middle of the room will have The Annals of Llengrath, Volume II of V.

  4. A lectern at #6 has The Annals of Llengrath, Volume IV of V.

  5. The room at #8 has Spore Infested Librarians, Luminescent Sporelings, Charmed Imps, a Spore Tendril and a Luminescent Spore that will attack on sight.

    A lectern in the room will have The Annals of Llengrath, Volume III of V.

  6. The Giant Luminescent Spore will be at #7. Dealing with that Spore is part of the Annotated History Quest. A lectern behind the Spore has The Annals of Llengrath, Volume V of V.

  7. Collecting all five volumes replaces them with the Collected Annals of Llengrath.

  8. Return to The Central Stacks. The stairs at #1 of The Central Stacks leads to #10 on the map of the Temple of Revelation.

  9. Llengrath and Tayn will be at #9 and #2 on the map of The Central Stacks respectively. Speak to Llengrath. She lets on a fascination with the Annals you've collected. You can give her the Collected Annals of Llengrath then and there if you wish.

  10. Alternatively, you can halt the conversation with Llengrath about the Annals partway through and then speak to Tayn. You can then give the Collected Annals of Llengrath to him. He'll edit some of the content, and give you The Modified Collected Annals of Llengrath. You can then give The Modified Collected Annals of Llengrath to Llengrath, although doing so earns Shady reputation.

  11. Whomever you give the Annals to, Llengrath rewards you with 11,000+xp, Llengrath's Tome of Preservation and three Scrolls of Withdrawal. The difference is that giving Llengrath the unmodified Annals will increase your esteem with her, while giving her the Annals after being modified by Tayn will increase your esteem with Tayn. That choice can have repercussions for The Seeds of Deception Quest.
