Here is your initial entry point and access to the World Map.
Here you'll get attacked by several bounty hunters who will swarm you from all sides. If you have anything like Captivating Song, Waking Nightmare, or Glyph of Neutralization, by all means let loose. Also take out the mage as quickly as you can. If you notice that the mage is casting a spell with a running meter, meaning a high level spell, try to interrupt the casting with something like Scattershot, Winter's Grasp, or Stonefist.
Here is the central plaza of the pass, which has a couple of gossips, as well as several surface dwarves.
If you have a quest from a client in Denerim to hunt down Lowly Brian as a false witness, you'll find him near here leaning against one of the stone slabs.
Here is Tornas the Deserter, who is part of the Dereliction of Duty quest on behalf of the Blackstone Irregulars. When he falls, he'll leave behind the Frostshear ring.
Here is a merchant named Faryn, who sells a lot of weapons and armor. Some of the more notable wares include:
Incidentally, Faryn will get nervous around Sten and there's a reason why. If you have the quest to recover Sten's sword and have spoken with the scavenger near the Lake Calenhad Docks, the Scavenger will point you in the direction of Faryn. Faryn in turns claims that he sold it to a Dwarf in Redcliffe Village.
Here is a Dwarven merchant named Ahren, who unfortunately cannot sell you any goods due to circumstances he's only too willing to explain to you.
Also nearby is Starrick the Apprentice, who is part of the Notice of Termination quest on behalf of the Mage's Collective.
If you are on a quest on behalf of a client 'K' from Denerim to deposit a deserved payment, around here is where you can find a 'dead drop' point.
Here is the gate to Orzammar. You'll find the Dwarven guards refusing entry to Imrek, a messenger from Loghain. You can get yourself admitted as a Grey Warden. Imrek will take offense at this and spoil for a fight. If you reciprocate, be sure to either take out or immobilize the mage first. You can also Intimidate him into leaving without a fight. Once things are settled, the Guards will allow you entry to the Hall of Heroes.
