Gilded Vale

Gilded Vale

  1. This point provides access to travel by the World Map, and will also be the point of arrival if the party travels here from the Valewood.

  2. Here is where the town magistrate named Urgeat will arrive and accost you, long enough for a bell to ring three times and signify that Lord Raedric's wife gave birth to a soulless child. That event marks the completion of The Gilded Vale quest.

  3. Here you'll find an enormous tree from which hang several dead bodies. The tree itself is also the subject of another quest called Visions and Whispers. Completing the quest will result in your protagonist becoming a Watcher, somebody with the power to read the life's history of a soul, even through many of its reincarnated lives.

  4. You'll find a Settler's Arrow at any location marked as #4.

  5. Here you'll find a couple of Blood Moss.

  6. Here is where you can find and recruit Eder into your party, but only after you've completed the Visions and Whispers quest.

  7. Here is the entrance to the Temple of Eothas.

  8. Here is a Moon Godlike Paladin named Theal Feylion. You can use your Watcher abilities to read his soul history, but again I don't think it has any long-term repercussions.

  9. Here is where you can find Aloth in a confrontation with three of the locals. The initial dialogue allows you the option of either a Stoic or Rational reply. Shortly after that will be the option of either a Diplomatic or Passionate reply.

It is possible, but apparently difficult, to talk the locals out of attacking. The fight is not difficult at all in any event, since they fall very easily, often with a single hit.

A dialogue will ensue with Aloth immediately afterwards. You can make either an Aggressive, Benevolent or Clever reply. When he asks what you're doing in Gilded Vale, you can make either a Deceptive or a Stoic reply.

  10. Here is the entrance to the Black Hound Inn.

  11. Here is Aufra's house. Inside the house will be a barrel and table that will have food items. Trying to take these items will require Thievery and may cause Aufra to attack you if she catches you in the act.

Also in the house will be Aufra herself. When you first speak to her, she'll want to know about the fate of her sister, none other than Calisca. The initial dialogue offers Honest and Stoic options. There will be Benevolent and Cruel dialogue options shortly thereafter.

She also offers the quest called A Mother's Plea. She is pregnant, and is fearful that her child will be Hollowborn, born without a soul. She wants a cure from a woman named Ranga, who can be found in Anslog's Compass.

  12. Here you'll find Kliak and Zlaxx the Usurper. You can you your Watcher abilities (obtained after completing the Visions and Whispers quest) to get a sense of their histories. I don't think it has any real significance though.

  13. Here you'll find a couple of Goldrot Chews.

  14. Here you'll find a Springberry.

  15. Inside this house will be Kaera Iloth and Edlyn Preostun, whose souls can be read after obtaining the Watcher abilities. I don't think it has any real significance though.

One table in the house has a book called The Dyrwood, Part 3: The War of Black Trees and the Rise of Admeth Hadret. Trying to take the book will, however, provoke the two women residing in the house to attack you.

Another table in the house has food items. Likewise trying to take these items will require Thievery and may cause the two women to attack you if they catch you in the act.

  16. You'll find a Berath's Bell at any location marked as #16.

  17. Here are Ronin Teronian and Hugo, whose soul histories can be read with your Watcher abilities.

  18. You'll find Pilgrim's Crowns at these locations.

  19. Here is the Black Hammer Smithy. The proprietor will offer The Smith's Shipment quest.

  20. A crate here has a couple of random food items.

  21. Here is the entrance to Ingroed's house. It is the place you need to visit in order to complete the Vengeance from the Grave quest that started in Valewood. One container in the house has a book called The Dyrwood, Part 2: The Broken Stone War. Another container has some coins plus a random item or two.

  22. Here are Doran Chamberlain and Rudolfin Necatore, whose soul histories can be read with your Watcher abilities.

  23. Here is the Town Mill, which is the focus of the Against the Grain task.

*Note* There's a container in the back of the mill that has two piles of Grain. Trumbel and the others will go hostile if they catch you stealing it.

  24. Here is where you can now access the World Map so as to reach Magran's Fork.

  25. Here is where you can now access the World Map so as to reach Esternwood.

  26. Here is where you can now access the World Map so as to reach Anslog's Compass.
