COLLECT THE FEE FOR GAELAN BAYLE

You get this quest at the start of Chapter 2. When you first enter the Slums District of Athkatla, Gaelan Bayle will greet you. You may not know who he is, but he knows who you are, and that you are looking for Imoen and Irenicus. Most importantly, he knows a group that can help you find them.

  1. Gaelan Bayle takes you to his home at 7 in the Slums. There he springs the catch on you: In order to be able to help you, the group he knows needs a little matter of 20,000 GP! He suggests that you sell off surplus items and go looking for work. He even gives you an idea where you might start looking for work, depending on your protagonist's class. With that, he sends you off...

  2. Outside Gaelan's home you meet by his nephew Brus who has instructions to help you on your way. He reiterates Gaelan's suggestion on where to find work and then either leads you to the entrance to the Copper Coronet or to the exit from the Slums District.

  3. However, once you have collected a sum of 15,000 GP, a mysterious woman named Valen approaches you when you are travelling outside in Athkatla. She suggests that you should go see her mistress any time after dark in the Graveyard District.

    Immediately after she has left, Brus appears again and tells you Gaelan Bayle wants to see you.

  4. Go back to Gaelan Bayle's home and speak to him again. He tells you that the price has been lowered to 15,000 GP. You can now choose to side with Gaelan Bayle and his associates.

  5. If you pay Gaelan his fee, this starts off Chapter 3. Each party member receives 45,000 XP. Gaelan tells you that you are to meet with Aran Linvail, leader of the Shadow Thieves in Athkatla. He gives you the Shadow Thief Cellar Key so you can enter Aran Linvail's area in the Shadow Thief Guildhall.
