This Quest will trigger once you complete the Quest called A Matter of Import.
At that point, you'll have spoken to Fleet Master Okaya in her office at
#6 in Sayuka. She now wants you
to do something about the coral that is growing out of control and
threatening to overtake Sayuka.
Iverra will be in the Workshop, the entrance to which is at #10.
She'll reveal the location of Cignath
Mor. She will also give you the Diving
Equipment.
Make your way to #45 on the World Map,
which is the entrance to Cignath
Mor. You'll need the Diving
Equipment to make it through and reach #1 on the map of the
entrance area.
Kill the Enraged Lagufaeth at #2. The door at #4 leads to the door at
#5 on the next level.
The door at #17 is the crucial point. You can open it then and there
with a Mechanics skill check of 15.
The alternative is to find the Underwater
Dungeon Key at #11 and then use it on the door. You'll have to
fight your way through the Enraged Lagufaeth and Enraged Sea Trolls at
either #10 or #12 to reach it. The group at #12 also surrounds a Sigil
of Atrophy, so come prepared for that if you want to go that way.
An Engwithan machine will be at #18. A combined Arcana check of 10 and
Metaphysics check of 6 will reveal its purpose, to channel soul energy
into the nearby flora and wildlife. Galawain will command your attention
if you select the option to disable it, and demand that you stop. One
choice is to go ahead and disable the machine in defiance of the God of
the Hunt. Doing so earns reputation with Pallegina
but loses it with Xoti.
Galawain will have a Kraken waiting
for you at #3 on the entrance area if you disabled the machine. Unlike
its rendition in the first game, it's definitely better to kill off its
tentacles before attacking the monster itself. The Kraken itself has a
LOT of Health and cannot be killed off quickly. It can also use an ink
jet attack that can Blind multiple characters. The tentacles can Stun or
knock Prone multiple characters, so that's why I recommend dealing with
them first.
It will leave behind numerous crafting components, along with a helm
called the Mask of the Grotto Deep.
The alternative pathway is to fall in with Galawain's request to leave
the Engwithan machine in operation, and instead flood Cignath Mor so
that nobody can approach the machine again. That involves hitting the
switch at the pylons located at points marked #8.
The area will start to flood in earnest once you've shut down all three
pylons. That brings you to a scripted interaction whereby you put on the
Diving Equipment and swim
for the surface.
However, a break will manifest in your diving helmet. Either an
Athletics check of 10 or a Mechanics check of 9 will allow you to make
it the rest of the way to the surface without Injury.
Now you'll be back on the World Map.
Galawain will indicate to you that he's given you a blessing in
gratitude for denying anyone else access to his machine.
Return to Fleet Master Okaya. She'll reward you with 1,800cp and a
major gain of reputation with the Royal Deadfire Company if you disabled
the machine.
You'll still get the 1,800cp if you left the machine operational, but suffer a moderate loss of reputation
with the Royal Deadfire Company. You can regain that reputation loss if
you make a Diplomacy check of 8 while explaining yourself to Okaya. It
is also at this point that you'll obtain Galawain's permanent blessing,
Savage Cunning (Perception +1, +2 Survival).
Okaya will also tell you to return to Atsura, and thus trigger the Clearing
Out Crookspur Quest.
