CERND IS A FATHER!

To get this quest, you must have Cernd in your party.

When you have resolved the Animal Attacks in Trademeet quest, travel to one of the larger areas of Athkatla. A man named Igarol passes by and Cernd recognizes him as a former neighbor. Igarol, however, acts very coldly towards Cernd. Turns out that Cernd walked out on his former wife, Galia, by what he calls "mutual agreement". However, Galia later found out she was pregnant.

Your job: Reunite Cernd with his child.

  1. Igarol suggested that you should visit Cernd's former home which is at 6 in Waukeen's Promenade. So go there and enter.

  2. You are met by a homeless guy named Catis. He also speaks very coldly to Cernd but suggests that you seek out his old maid, Fennecia.

  3. Fennecia's home is at 9 in Waukeen's Promenade. Go see her.

  4. If you thought Igarol and Catis gave Cernd a cold welcome, you haven't met Fennecia... She can tell you that Galia is dead but refuses to say more with Cernd present.

  5. Select Cernd and send him outside, then let one of your other party members (the protagonist will serve fine) speak to Fennecia. She will tell you that Galia shacked up with a nobleman named Deril. Fennecia more than hints that Deril killed Galia.

  6. Now go to the Government District. The Deril Estate is at 13.

  7. Inside, speak to Glut, the servant Golem. Cernd browbeats it into fetching mister Deril. Who kills Glut for disturbing him.

  8. Deril appears and has a little "discussion" with Cernd.

    If you refuse to fight for Cernd, he leaves the party and fights Deril alone – and is killed.

    If you promise Cernd to back him up if he threatens Deril, a lich named Lagole Gon appears and starts questioning Deril who then gives up the boy willingly. Cernd takes the boy and leaves the party to bring his child back to the Druid Grove.

    If you threaten to bring in the guards or urge Cernd to attack, Deril turns hostile. Kill him. He drops a Scroll of Protection from Magic Energy, a Quarterstaff, and some minor treasure – and Cernd's baby boy, which again Cernd immediately seizes before leaving for the Druid Grove. Seeing that Deril is worth 26,000 XP, this path is worth taking. ;-)

  9. Once Cernd has his boy, he receives 50,000 XP and leaves. The party receives 20,000 XP for solving the quest. You can pick up Cernd later at the Druid Grove where he is happy to leave his son to the care of the druids while he himself goes adventuring.
