The party will arrive at #1 of the Celestial Sapling map. Cwineth will be at #7. She'll explain that her expedition is exploring an area called the Northweald, and that it is in danger from a Glanfathan tribe called the Fangs. An Honest option is available that will call her out for intruding on the Fangs' territory.
You'll start at #1 on the map of Northweald. At #3 is the Pilgrim's Camp. You will get attacked by several Wolves and a Wolf Leader there. They leave behind Wolf Hides when killed.
The camp itself provides a clue that is relevant to the quest. Your journal will indicate tracks leading east.
You will now find Cwineth at #8. She explains that her expedition has been found out, and is now surrounded by the Fangs. She would like you to intervene somehow.
The Fangs, led by Bright Blood, will be at #10. She'll want you to exterminate the expedition, led by Captain Esmar, who have taken refuge at #12.
You will be left with multiple choices about how to resolve matters. And those choices depend on whether you want to receive a reward from Cwineth, or from Bright Blood.
The simplest way to get a reward from Cwineth is to slaughter the Fangs at the outset, which shouldn't be too difficult. The loot includes:
There are alternative ways to get a reward from Cwineth. One is to speak to Captain Esmar at #12. He will indicate that he could take the rest of the expedition north and make good their escape, but for the fact that the way is blocked by a hungry pack of Stelgaers.
That pack will be at #15, led by an Elder Spotted Stelgaer. They will leave behind several Stelgaer Teeth and a Stelgaer Hide when killed.
Inform Captain Esmar that you've gotten rid of him, and then he will lead the expedition to safety.
However, should you run into the Fangs again, they will realize what you've done and attack on sight. The loot from the Fangs will be the same.
Another way is to speak with Bright Blood without attacking the Fangs right away. Broach the subject of letting the expedition off alive. You will need either 3 positive points of reputation with Twin Elms, or make a Resolve check of 17, to convince her to agree. However, she'll insist that their leader must be made an example of.
Now speak with Captain Esmar at #12. Esmar will willingly sacrifice his own freedom so that the rest of the expedition can leave safely, whether that means that Fangs take him prisoner or whether you imprison him if you have restored the Dungeons in your stronghold.
Any of these three courses will earn a reward from Cwineth. As for the reward itself, your options are any one of 9,000cp, an Arquebus named Long-Feller, or the Dungeon Delver talent (+0.1 Critical Hit Modifier, +1 Stealth, +1 Mechanics).
You can also elect not to take any reward then and there. In fact, Cwineth will relocate to Admeth's Den. You can speak to her there and make your choice then if you want.
If you want a reward from Bright Blood instead, the only way to do it is to simply slaughter all of the Mercenaries at #12. Again, that shouldn't be too difficult either. The loot includes:
Come back to Bright Blood for your reward. As with Cwineth, you have three options: 9,000cp, a Hunting Bow named Prey Maker, or the Wild Running talent (+10 Defense vs. Hobbled or Stuck, +10 Defense vs. Disengagement Attacks).
Lastly, if you slaughter both the Mercenaries and the Fangs alike, you'll fail the quest and you won't get any reward.
