Tavorick Estate
When you enter here, you’ll get introduced the elderly yet rather virile Lord Tavorick. The Guards press you for preliminary questions on how you want to set up barricades, positioning of the men and so on. I found this doesn’t really matter since the fighting is hectic no matter what and you’ll have to do most of it in any event.
Once intros and plans are finished, you are to go up and make a last minute check on Tavorick. Go up through the stairs at #1 of the first floor. Tavorick will be at #1 of the second floor. There is a reward for keeping him alive so it is recommended that you have two guards stay with him. Now head back down the stairs at #2.
Now the fire of the torches turns blue and a green mist invades the estate. And what this heralds is having to fight your way through several waves of Fire Mephits, Succubi, and Erinyes.
Once the initial onslaught is over, you’ll hear Tavorick scream. That means going upstairs and fighting more fiends up on the second floor. If you can keep Tavorick alive, he’ll give you the Tavorick Family Crypt Key. If not, he’ll make an announcement before dying.
The key opens the door at #2 to the west wing of the first floor. More fiends to fight. Once you make it through the door at #3, the leader of the demons, QaggothYeg, will arrive with the help of several Fire Mephits, Succubi and Erinyes. This combat is rather involved. Haste, physical combat, and party friendly area effect spells (e.g. Call Lightning and Chain Lightning) are the way to go. Either one of two conclusions to this affair occurs: (1) You successfully kill all of the Demons while keeping Tavorick alive or (2) Tavorick is mortally wounded. Whichever one occurs, Tavorick lets you know that he doesn’t have the silver shard with him anymore. It is now with Melia, who is in the Moonstone Mask which is on the east side of the Merchant Quarter. There will be experience bonuses both for keeping Lord Tavorick alive and for keeping his whole guard alive.
And there you must go now. The door out back into Neverwinter is at #4 by the way.
