Castle Cousland

Castle Cousland

    Main Hall Meeting
  1. This Origins story begins with your father, the Teryn Bryce Cousland, another Noble, Arl Rendon Howe, and the Grey Warden, Duncan, discussing preparations against an ominous evil referred to as the Blight. Where ever your interests may lie, Bryce has a task for you. You are to find your brother, Fergus, and inform him that he is to lead the troops of House Cousland south to Ostagar for the upcoming fight against the Darkspawn.

  2. Chests in these rooms will usually have a random item or two, like an Elfroot or Deep Mushroom.

  3. Mother Mallol
  4. Here is the Chapel. You will find Mother Mallol and a couple of guards praying here. You can join her in a prayer if you wish. You can also find here Codex entries for "Chant of Light - The Blight" and "Andraste - Bride of the Maker".

  5. Here is a Guard post, where the apparently lax Guards are playing cards. How lax or harsh you are in your treatment of them is up to you.

  6. Ser Gilmore
  7. Here is Ser Gilmore. He'll indicate that a pet Mabari Hound is causing trouble in the nearby larder. It's in your interest to investigate this since it will make completing the origins story considerably easier.

  8. Here is the Kitchen. The cook, Nan, is upset over a Mabari Hound having taken over the larder. She'll be irate no matter what you say, so press on regardless.

  9. Here is the larder. If you're patient with the Hound, it will clue you in that there's something amiss in the Larder. Sure enough, several Giant Rats will attack. Ser Gilmore will be a joinable companion only for this fight, while the Mabari Hound will be your party companion for the rest of this Origins story. Afterwards, tell Nan that the situation is resolved to get xp.

    Atrium
  10. Here is the Atrium. You'll find your mother, Teryna Eleanor Cousland, Lady Lana, her Elven servant named Iona, and a man named Darrien conversing here. After a brief conversation here, Iona and Darrien indicate that they can be found at the study.

  11. Here is the Library. If you want, you can listen to Aldous lecture on the history of House Cousland, which by the way may reveal the origins of the conflict that is soon to come. Also here you will find Codex entries for "Noble Families of Ferelden", "Geography of Ferelden", and "History of Ferelden", chapters 1 and 2.

  12. LibraryHere is the Study, where you'll find both Iona and Darrien will be here after initially meeting them in the Atrium. If you choose, you can convince either of them to join you in bed later that night. This makes no difference in terms of advancing the story other than a little bit more xp, and whether or not somebody will be in bed with you when trouble starts. Pursuing one in earnest means that the door will be closed for the other. Also in the Study can be found a Codex entry for "Culture of Ferelden".

  13. Fergus
  14. Here is where you'll find your brother, Fergus. What this really means is that Teryn Bryce Cousland really wants to have a family get together before he leaves for Ostagar. This leads to a cutscene where you wake up in your own room to a disturbance. That disturbance being a Battle against the invading forces of Arl Rendon Howe.
