Here is you will start the game as a Dwarf Noble. You will be accompanied by your loyal friend, Gorim. Gorim will come equipped with Gorim's Longsword (Red Steel), and Gorim's Shield (Iron). There is also a crystal in this room that provides a Codex entry for "Orzammar Politics", and a sculpture that provides an entry for King Endrin Aeducan. It is also now time to explore the palace a bit.
Here is a bookcase that provides a Codex entry for "History of Orzammar: Part I".
Here is Prince Trian's room. You won't be able to enter it until after you've feasted with your father, the King. Once you do though, you'll be able to get the Codex entry for Trian's Journal.
Here is Prince Bhelen's room. Standing around is his consort, Rica. If you look around a bit, you'll find a letter that provides a Codex entry for "Letter from Rica" as well as a book that provides a Codex entry for "House Aeducan, Shield of Orzammar".
Here is a bookcase that provides a Codex entry for "History of Orzammar: Part 2".
Here is the Throne Room. Your father, King Endrin of Orzammar, is apparently entertaining quite a few dignataries, including a few Dwarven Nobles and some Grey Wardens led by a man named Duncan. Coming here and joining your father in feast is necessary to progress the Origins story. Once the feast concludes, you will be given a quest to recover a shield of the Aeducan family from a Ruined Thaig that has since been cut off from Orzammar by the Darkspawn-infested Deep Roads.
This not to say that you HAVE TO right away. You do have the option of exploring the nearby Diamond Quarter, and attending a combat tournament known as The Proving first. But when you're ready to progress your origins story, it is to this feast that you must come.
Incidentally, one of the Dwarven Nobles attending the feast, Lord Ronus Daces, would like to advocate allowing Dwarves who strike a living on the surface recognition within the Dwarven caste system for reasons of his own. Whether or not you do so is purely a role-playing decision.
