Rassatan

Samarach Overland Map

Discovery of Rassatan

I make my way south along the coast, well past the Ship Wreck and what used to be the lair of the Stone Knives Tribe. Gallard makes a few skill checks, uncovering plenty of hidden caches along the way. I score some Timber as well as a King's Tear gem as a result. The King's Tear may come in handy later on when it comes to item crafting.

I eventually make my way to #4 on the overland Map, which is the town of Rassatan. I get 100xp for the discovery.

I have some Ores from a previous fight against Batiri that I didn't show in any video. I trade those and the Timber that I found earlier to Rassatan for trade bars.

Jerrod Journal

I continue southeast until I find a cabin. Inside the cabin will be a journal that describes how a man named Jerrod was pulled underwater by a monster and subsequently became an undead creature. There will also be a trapped and locked chest that has some loot.

There isn't really any quest significance to the journal. I'm showing it for interest's sake.

I return to Rassatan. Shortly after I return, I get into a fight with several Earth Elementals. Vandala makes repeated use of Eldritch Blast / Draining Blasts to keep them slowed down. The Earth Elementals each have a small random chance of dropping a Weak Earth Essence, which can be useful provided you can find a crafting bench that allows the use of the OC crafting system. In fact, I got a Weak Earth Essence from another group of Earth Elementals, the fight against which I didn't include in a video.

To the Singing Caverns

I enter the common room of the Forgotten Pearl. Redfeyer wants me to recover a Singing Pendant for him from some nearby caves.

The Singing Caves are nearby at #6. However, as I make my way there, I'm having to fight plenty of monsters like Earth Elementals and Wyverns. So I'm getting pretty close to the next level of experience.

Singing Caverns

I enter the Caverns and start off at #1 on the Singing Caverns map.

Singing Caverns

I then put up some buffs, especially Bark Skin on everyone from Umoja.

At #5 will be an Arcane Nexus, but I won't be able to use it until later. There's a trap near #4. The chest will have some random loot.

The area near #2 is trapped. The chest holds a Ring of Minor Acid Resistance, which Vandala will wear for now. Several Green Spiders will surround and attack party once the chest is looted. They aren't difficult though.

Several party members now advance to their 10th level of experience. That includes Vandala picking up her first Hellfire Warlock level. She now activates her Hellfire combat mode. Umoja buffs her with a Death Ward spell. That allows Vandala to use her Hellfire bonus damage without limit, as the Death Ward spell will prevent any Constitution damage.

At #3 will be several Bats and a Giant Green Spider. Gallard holds the party back, allowing Umoja to wipe out most of the monsters with a well-placed Ice Storm spell. Vandala then kills the Giant Green Spider with her Eldritch Blast.

A dirt mound in the cave will have several random treasures. A nearby chest has the Singing Pendant.

The area on the east edge of the cave is trapped. A chest within has an Amulet of Natural Armor +1, plus several random items. Gallard will wear the Amulet for now, as he is the character that most often puts himself in harm's way.

The Singing Pendant

I bring the Singing Pendant back to Redfeyer, and get 700xp for it. Everyone in the party also gets an Ale in their inventory.

Umoja's 10th Level

I make my way back to Samargol. I hunt around for more xp until Umoja reaches his 10th level.

This is where Umoja picks up a Ranger level and transitions to a somewhat different fighting style. He ditches the shield and sling for a Longbow. He also acquires a scythe as a backup weapon in case enemies get close to him.

I also do some item enchanting. I add +1d6 sonic damage to Logan's falchion. I also add a +1 enhancement bonus and +1d6 acid damage to Umoja's scythe.

Nimbre is my next destination.
