DOCKS DISTRICT

Docks District

Murderer!

A couple of cutscenes that start in motion one of the main quests of Act 2, to clear myself of accusations of having slaughtered the entire village of Ember.

*NOTE* Now that Act 2 has begun, it is important for me to outline a certain reality when it comes to merchants and the available merchandise in Act 2. Neither the Docks District nor the Blacklake District will be accessible during Act 3, which means that any merchants and their inventories that were in these Districts will also no longer be available during Act 3. On the other hand, Port Llast will be accessible during Act 2 and Act 3. This in turn means that merchants in Port Llast will still be available during Act 3 as well. If you have an expensive shopping list that includes items from both Port Llast and the Neverwinter Districts you may want to prioritize purchasing items from the Neverwinter Districts first and possibly put off buying anything from the Port Llast merchants until Act 3.

*Evil* Murderer!

The equivalent video for Zarathos, which takes on a different tone to reflect his having allied himself with the Shadow Thieves.

Equipping Sand and Shandra

I have two new companions, so now I take the opportunity to equip them with the items that I've been saving up for them. Sand gets:

Shandra gets: Lastly, Valeria gives the Bracers +4 she found in the Githyanki Base to Neeshka, which is an upgrade over her Bracers of Armor +3.

Merchant Elemental

*Note* From this point onwards, I always bring Grobnar with me whenever I visit shops. The reason is that his Inspire Competence ability will give Valeria a bonus to her use of the Appraise skill. That in turn means greater returns when she sells loot, and cheaper prices when she buys items.

I remember to equip Elanee with the Amulet of Will +3 that I found earlier. I then head over to Sand's Shop.

A Merchant Elemental now runs the place in lieu of Sand himself. Be forewarned that the Elemental will buy your wares at lower prices in comparison to other merchants. I only buy three items from him:

I then use a Leather Hide, the Beljuril Gem, and a Radiant Fire Essence (after Valeria merges two Glowing Fire Essences together) to create the Headband of Intellect +8. This becomes Valeria's headgear for the rest of the game, as it provides improvements to so many of the things she does. *Note* I altered the appearance of the Headband for aesthetic reasons.

*Evil* Note that Zarathos will instead use the Beljuril for a Periapt of Wisdom +8.

Fibba

At #5 is a merchant named Fibba. She offers her regular wares, as well as a special stock if the main character has the Blessed of Waukeen feat. I bought her Umber Hulk Hide, her Mithral Ingot, and her Zalantar Planks from her regular wares, since I'll be able to use them later on in crafting certain items for a profit.

Another item that I bought from her regular wares was the Great Wyrm Gauntlets (+6 attack bonus, +2d6 fire damage, -4 Dexterity), in anticipation of when Khelgar becomes a Monk. They are probably the best gloves for a Monk in terms of raw damage. The Dexterity penalty can be avoided once I acquire the Blackflame Cloak during Act III. All I'll need to do is keep the cloak equipped, but then re-equip the Gauntlets once my savegame loads and the Dexterity penalty is avoided. Even if you don't feel like engaging in that level of micromanagement, Khelgar will still enjoy a really good armor class despite the Dexterity penalty.

I bought a few items from her special wares. One was Anagry's Mindmaze (+2 Intelligence, immunity to mind-affecting spells, Wizards only), which becomes Neeshka's hat for the rest of the game. She can use her Use Magic Device skill to put the hat on despite it being a Wizard only item. The reason I have her wear it is that her Will saving throws are terrible. I could have her attain the Slippery Mind feat to gain an extra saving throw against mind-affecting spells, but all that means is two saving throws that are both likely to fail. Best to just simply immunize her altogether.

Another item I bought was the Talon Blade (Kukri +2, +1d8 slashing damage) for Neeshka. The +1d8 slashing damage is a unique benefit that is not available through standard item enchanting processes. I will enchant it further when I get the chance fairly soon.

The last item that I bought is a ring called the Finger of the Lame Kobold (+3 regeneration, Warlocks only). I save this one up for when Ammon Jerro joins me during Act III.

There is one more item that I'd like to buy from Fibba, and that's the Headsman Falchion. But it's very expensive, so it'll have to wait a while.

Now I help Neeshka loot the Collector's Mansion.
