The Burning Grove

  1. Here is the way back to the Ashenwood.

  2. Here is where you’ll find a burning undead spirit known as a Shape of Fire. It has been condemned to imprisonment within this grove by the Wood Man as a punishment for associating with a past Spirit Eater. It wants your help to burn down the rest of the grove in order to oblige a confrontation with the Wood Man and exact revenge. If Okku is in your party, he’ll hint at a preference for putting out the fire.

    Shape of FireIf you use cold spells or weapons that inflict cold damage to put out the trees that are on fire, the Burning Man will attack you. If you inflict enough damage, he'll be helpless. You then have the option of using Devour Spirit on him to aqquire Shape of Fire Essence. This causes you to lose influence with Kaelyn. Or you can use the Jar of Condensed Orglash Essences on him and gain influence with Kaelyn.

    If you kill him with Eternal Rest or Devour Spirit you’ll acquire the Shape of Fire Essence.

    If you use fire spells or weapons that inflict fire damage to spread the blaze to the trees that are so far untouched, speak to the Shape of Fire again. The Wood Man is not coming again, so the Shape of Fire is still in pain. You can either use Devour Spirit on him, which will cause you to lose influence with Kaelyn. Or you can use the Jar of Condensed Orglash Essences which will increase your influence with Kaelyn. Either method also gets you the Shape of Fire Essence.

  3. About here is a tree from which you can obtain the Burnt Cinders. It can be used on either the Pure Sanctuary Water or the Legendary Blood to create an Anointing Solution.

  4. About here is a tree from which you can obtain the Charred Branch. This may be useful if you’re taking an evil path through the game.
