KILL SOLAUFEIN

After your have killed (or maybe not) a Svirfneblin patrol, hostilities flare between Solaufein and Phaere. Phaere sends Solaufein away and orders you to meet her in the Female Fighters' Society, where you can find her at 2.

Once there, Phaere tells you to kill Solaufein for her. He can be found in the Male Fighters' Society, and for proof of your deed you should bring her Solaufein's Piwawfi Cloak. Phaere gives you three days to do the deed.

Several party members, among them Edwin and Jaheira, will suggest that you may use this situation to your advantage; should you find a way to not kill Solaufein.

  1. Leave the Female Fighters' Society and go to the Male Fighters' Society. Enter. Solaufein will be at 2.

  2. Speak to Solaufein. You have the option of not killing him, and this is strongly recommended. Ask him for his Piwawfi Cloak and he will gladly give it to you.

    If you kill Solaufein, just make sure to loot his body for the cloak.

  3. Take the cloak back to Phaere. Each party member receives 30,000 XP.

  4. If you are male, Phaere orders you to her private quarters to sleep with her. You can talk your way out of this in several ways. If you decide to sleep with Phaere and you are pursuing one of the romances in the game:

    • Viconia will take it in her stride. This is, after all, the Drow way.

    • Jaheira won't be happy, so be diplomatic to her.

    • If you were romancing Aerie, the romance is ruined.

  5. Anyway, Phaere next orders you to meet her and Matron Mother Ardulace at the Temple of Lolth. So go there.

  6. Phaere and Matron Mother Ardulace meet you near the entrance. Seems the Beholder you killed earlier was the wrong type, and Matron Mother Ardulace needs the blood of a leader of one of the neighboring races. So this is your next job in Ust Natha: Fetch the Blood of a Neighboring Race.
