Landsmeet Chamber

Landsmeet Chamber

  1. Here is the initial entry point, and the way back to the map of Denerim.

  2. Here is the main chamber of the Landsmeet. The Landsmeet will actually follow a number of distinct phases, as follows:

    Accusations and Debates

This is the part where Teryn Loghain, yourself, Arl Eamon, and potentially others as well throw out accusations about who did what, and who should rule Ferelden, and what to do about the Blight, and so on.

You have a large role to play in how this plays out, and your dialogue choices can affect the outcome.

Whatever you do, do not throw out the accusation that Loghain betrayed King Cailan at Ostagar, since you haven't been able to find direct evidence to support this. That is, at least if you want the Landsmeet decision to fall in your favour.

Instead, use accusations that you can actually support, like Loghain trading in Elven Slaves in the Alienage, and Loghain allowing Arl Howe to kidnap and torture prisoners in his dungeon. Also, select the dialogue option that says that the Blight is the real concern instead of Orlais when you get the chance.

Whether or not Anora will support you or Loghain depends entirely on whether you were willing to support her bid for the Throne when she brought up the subject in Arl Eamon's Estate. As far as I can tell, this won't affect your ability to win the Landsmeet, but it will affect the cutscenes of the Landsmeet.

    The Vote

What is crucial is winning the support of enough nobles to have a 5 to 1 decision in your favour. Here's how it can play out for each one:

Arl Wulffe - Speak to him in the Gnawed Noble Tavern, and you will learn that he lost his noble holding to the Blight. When you get the chance, pick the dialogue option that emphasizes that the Blight is the real concern, not Orlais. He will then throw in his support for you.

Bann Alfstanna - First, find her Templar brother in Arl Howe's dungeon. Then bring the Templar's ring to her in the Gnawed Noble Tavern. She will then support you. Also, if you bring up the accusation that Loghain hired a Blood Mage to poison Arl Eamon, she will validate this.

Sighard of Dragon's Peak - If you rescue his son from Arl Howe's dungeon, he will support you. Also, if you throw out the accusation that Loghain allowed Arl Howe to kidnap people and torture them in his dungeon, Sighard will validate this.

Arl of the Southern Reaches - He will always throw in his vote in your favour.

Rescued Noble - If you complete the Trial of the Crows missions, this noble will vote in your favour.

Bann Ceorlic - He will always vote in favour of Loghain.

    The Vote

LandsmeetIf you win the Landsmeet decision, Loghain will not step down easily. You then have two options. One is to attack him right then and there. This pits your party not just against Loghain, but his guards, which includes a couple of mages. To win, you need to bring Loghain's health down to zero. Arl Eamon's men will support you. Queen Anora's men will side with you only if you supported her bid for the Throne.

DuelThe other option is to challenge Loghain to one on one combat. To pull this off, it helps to have a character that either has a lot of staying power (e.g. Arcane Warrior, or a tank fighter that has defensive abilities and health to boot), or a Mage with spells that both minimize the ability to fight and to inflict damage.

If you lose the Landsmeet decision, Loghain will order your arrest, leading to the same kind of mass combat situation as described above.

    The Outcome

Once its all said and done, you'll get an additional attribute point to spend as well as a bonus talent to select.

Loghain's JoiningNow you have some crucial decisions to make. One is to decide the fate of Loghain. One is to execute him for his crimes. The Grey Warden, Riordan, presses him another option, having Loghain undergo the Binding Ritual to become a Grey Warden. Note that if you go along with this, Loghain will become a joinable party member, but it will also cause Alistair to leave permanently.

Now comes the decision about who will rule Ferelden. Much of this will depend on either your Persuasion or Intimidation ability, or on previous decisions, particularly concerning dialogues in Arl Eamon's Estate. Possible outcomes include:

Anora ruling alone, and with your agreement, executing Alistair to avoid political competition.
Anora ruling alone, and being persuaded to allow Alistair to live on as a Grey Warden.
Anora ruling alongside you, but only if your Grey Warden is of Male Human Noble origin.
Anora ruling alongside Alistair, but this requires working out an agreeement between them ahead of time when you were in Arl Eamon's Estate. Also, if you select Alistair to execute Loghain, she will back out of this arrangement.
Alistair leaving permanently, and becoming a wandering drunk.
    Alistair ruling alone.
Alistair ruling alongside you, but only if your character is of Female Human Noble origin, or you have 'hardened' his personality during his personal quest.

In any event, Ferelden is now united, and the Darkspawn await.
