Galawain's Maw

Galawain's Maw

  1. This exit goes back out to Oldsong at #14.

  2. These racks will have random weapons in them.

  3. Here is an Orlan named Larha, who offers the Prison of Ice quest.

She runs a shop that sells armor and weapons of Fine or Exceptional quality. Her distinctive items include:
Other items include Camping Supplies and Lockpicks.

  4. You can use a Rope and Grappling Hook here during a scripted interaction to create a shimmy to the other side at #15. You can travel back and forth between the two points thereafter.

  5. Here is Einden, who provides some background information for The Old King and the New King quest.

  6. This table will have a copy of The Book of the Hunt.

  7. There will be a few potions in this vase.

  8. Here is Desthwyn. Like Einden, he will offer information relating to The Old King and the New King quest. He will also give you the Galawain's Maw Key, which opens the door at #9.

  9. This door can be opened with the Galawain's Maw Key, which is given by Desthwyn at #8.

  10. You will find Settler's Arrows at these spots.

  11. You will find Einden here again, along with the enormous Bear named Oernos and several other Bears, but not until you've encountered Irensi and Sul at #17 in the course of The Old King and the New King quest.

  12. This door leads out to Oldsong at #8, and thereby results in the door at #8 now being opened. *Note* Be warned that leaving through this door while The Old King and the New King is still in progress may result in Sul getting herself killed, meaning that you may not be able to resolve the quest in a way that you might like.

  13. You will find packs of Lions led by an Elder Lion or two at these spots. The younger Lions will leave behind Lion Hides, while the Elder Lions leave Elder Lion Fangs.

They may also sometimes be found in the company of Lion Clansmen, who have Druidic powers. They are typically equipped with Hide Armor, and Daggers, Hatchets or Sabres.

  14. You will find Orlan's Cradles at these spots.

  15. You can use a Rope and Grappling Hook here during a scripted interaction to create a shimmy to the other side at #5. You can travel back and forth between the two points thereafter.

  16. The wall of vines here offers an opportunity to get across to the other side through a scripted interaction. Forcing your way through won't work. Sneaking through will work, but probably not without losing Health and sustaining an injury or two for multiple party members.

*Note* Yet it may be preferable to do so. It is sometimes the case that Sul will wander about and get attacked by the other Lions and Lion Clansmen in the Maw, which can have the unfortunate result of breaking The Old King and the New King quest and not being able to complete it if she gets killed. Going through the vine wall often gets you your encounter with Sul and avoids that possibility.

  17. Here is where you'll encounter the Elven woman named Irensi and the Lioness named Sul as part of the The Old King and the New King quest.

  18. A hidden niche here will have a magic random item plus a high-tier gem (e.g. Diamond) or two.

  19. You will find Burned Ladies at these spots.

  20. You will find a Skaenbone here.

Also very close by will be a hidden niche that has a random potion or two.

  21. The lever here opens the door at #22.

  22. This door can only be opened with the lever at #21.
