This is the first of the Ust Natha quests. To get the quest, you must have met with Adalon and gotten the Rescue Adalon's Eggs quest.
Once inside Ust Natha, Solaufein will meet you and give you this quest. He instructs you to meet him in the southeastern part of the Underdark within 12 hours.
Leave Ust Natha and go back to the Underdark area.
Begin making your way southwards towards the entrance to the Mind Flayer Dungeon. However:
At 24 you are met by a war party consisting of a Priestess called Chandrilla, a Kobold named Simbja, an Imp called Pitch, a Mage called N'ashtar, an Ogre Fighter called Boz, and a Thief called Damien.
Please note that this encounter has a high risk of leaving your party affected with Greater Malison. Try to get rid of that before meeting with Solaufein.
Solaufein is waiting for you at 21. After exchanging pleasantries (Drow Style;-), he casts a spell that frees Phaere at the spot, along with three Mind Flayers and three Umber Hulks. So prepare carefully! Chaotic Commands on as many of your party members as possible is a must.
Kill the Mind Flayers and the Umber Hulks (preferably in that order; but a well placed Death Spell may quickly rid you of the Umber Hulks). The party receives 20,000 XP for rescuing Phaere.
Phaere leaves alone, and Solaufein (after an angry outburst at her) follows to see to it that she reaches Ust Natha safely. On parting, he instructs you to meet him at the city entrance.
Go back to Ust Natha. You will find Solaufein and Imrae on the platform at 2 where you met them before.
Imrae instructs you to meet with Phaere in the tavern. She also instructs Solaufein to go there, much to his dismay.
Phaere and Solaufein will now be waiting for you inside the Ust Natha Tavern.
Phaere instructs you to meet her at the platform at the city entrance in a few days, no later. This leads to the next Ust Natha quest: Kill a Beholder.
