CITY OF JUDGMENT - EVIL
The Betrayer's Gate
Much the same as when the good party went through the gate, except Zarathos accepts Safiya's proclamation of love in order to get the Safiya's Love feat. This provides both Safiya and Zarathos with a welcome +2 to Wisdom and 35 spell resistance.
Beyond the Black Gate
Here, Zarathos decides to side with Kelemvor and against the Crusade. This initially requires him and his companions to slay the Blue Dragon Queen, Ser'ryu, which isn't difficult at all. This Dragon does very little besides physical attacks and a knockdown attack within a certain radius. No spells, no breath weapon.
The dragon leaves behind Sey'ryu's Scales (Full Plate +8, +75% resistance to electrical damage, Chain Lightning (20) / 3 times per day), but I have no use for it.
Lastly, Araman joins the evil party as a temporary companion. He has 10 Wizard levels, 10 Red Wizard levels, and 8 Cleric levels. He also comes equipped with an Amulet of Natural Armor +5, Bracers of Armor +10, a Ring of Freedom of Movement, and a Ring of Protection +5.
Raid on Eternity's End
The evil side is of course the reverse. I am ironically helping the Paladins of Kelemvor kill off the Deathless Warriors.
Note how I begin to show how effective Ravenous Incarnation can be in some situations. One of the key upsides of Ravenous Incarnation is that it can recoup spirit energy even from creatures (e.g. undead) that are otherwise immune to my other spirit eating powers. And it can recoup plenty of energy back if you hit enough times.
At some point, I've done the rounds and find Rammaq the Demi-Lich in the vault that's located towards the southwest corner. I am often circumspect about casting spells in response to the spirit eating system (which means I can't rest as often). But this occasion definitely merits full casting. Rammaq is helped out by a LOT of Zombie Warriors, and will himself put up plenty of spell protections. The key therefore is to get rid of the Zombie Warriors first and as quickly as possible. Safiya lets loose with Empowered Firebrand spells. Gann does likewise with Empowered Fire Storms, and Zarathos also chips in with Empowered Chain Lightnings. Once the Zombie Warriors are cleaned out, Rammaq is left by himself but will be enjoy some pretty hefty damage reduction. The party has to wear down Rammaq with attacks that, after damage reduction, will inflict minor bits of damage over time.
Demons at the Gate
And here I travel to the Supplicant's Gate, where I am confronted by a Balor named Nal'grazzn the Defiler and several Hezrou. Zarathos catches them with a Word of Faith spell that stops them from attacking. He then goes uses his Ravenous Incarnation form to both attack them and at the same time substantially replenish his spirit energy.
Heart of the Crusade
If I had arrived first, I would have been able to defend the Voice of Kelemvor against Zoab and his celestial servants. Letting the Voice get killed would itself be an opportunity to score the Doldrum.
However, since I arrived afterwards, Zoab boasts that he's already killed the Voice. He and his celestial servants attack. Zoab is pretty tough, and hits for a lot of damage with his Greatsword. He and his Planetars can also cast high-level Cleric spells. Zarathos leads off with a Word of Faith spell, while Gann tosses out a Storm of Vengeance spell. Zarathos throws in another Storm of Vengeance spell as well for good measure. After that, he uses his Ravenous Incarnation to both attack his enemies and completely replenish his spirit energy. Zoab is eventually the only one left, but I manage to wear him down by ganging up on him. An Empowered Distintegrate spell from Safiya helps as well.
Zoab leaves behind an Amulet of Will +8, a Ring of Divine Power (5), and the Bracers of the Inner Planes (+20% immunity to acid damage, +20% immunity to cold damage, +20% immunity to electrical damage, +20% immunity to fire damage, +20% immunity to negative energy damage, +20% immunity to positive energy damage, darkvision). But I have no use for it.
**NOTE** I don't show the video for when I read the Codex of the Doomed, because it's pretty much the same as with the good party, the key difference being that I actually do kill the Scrivener. Also, I don't have to kill anyone after leaving the Temple since I sided with the defenders of the City (hence no Araman coming after me) and I didn't bring Kaelyn with me. It is also at this point that Araman leaves me and is no longer a companion.
The Wall of the Faithless
The Wall of the Faithless now appears on the map for the City of Judgment. Once there, I have a brief dialogue with Kelemvor, God of the Dead. The particular dialogue choices don't have any particular consequences to them.
The point is, Kelemvor allows Zarathos an opportunity to reclaim his soul from the Wall, but won't render any aid either. The Wall itself will summon Faithless Golems and shoot damaging rays, but the danger can be quickly done away with by attacking the soul on the Wall so as to cut it free.
I do succeed fairly quickly. Only, it's not over yet. Zarathos will have to fight a series of battles inside his own soul.
