MULSANTIR
Vremyonni Hideout
I only had Safiya in the party long enough to get the Devotion of the Red Wizard feat. Now I replace her with Kaelyn, who had been at the Veil Theater.
There will now be a few places in Mulsantir that are open that weren't previously during Act I. One such place is the house at #11 on the map. Inside are a bunch of Vremyonni, male Rashemi Wizards who are acting as spies for an evil Durthan witch. I could talk my way out of this and get 250xp. But I prefer to fight them for more xp and more loot. The video shows a dialogue sequence that can be used to initiate a fight, but without any alignment penalties.
The battle is easy enough. Valeria and Kaelyn renders them helpless with Sun Burst and Word of Faith respectively. Gann threw in a Storm of Vengeance for good measure. The loot they leave behind includes:
There will also be several spell scrolls that can found be found on the tables, and a few potions in the Workbenches.
Kaelyn's 18th Level
Kaelyn now advances to her 18th level of experience. Like Gann, she also invests points in Use Magic Device with a view towards being able to use Boots of the Sun Soul.
She also acquires the Tower Shield Proficiency feat, which allows her to equip the Mage Protector that I had found earlier in the Imaskari ruins. The Intelligence penalty is meaningless for Kaelyn. Getting her Strength bonus from her tower shield gives her the flexibility to add a Fortitude saving throw bonus to her Girdle of Holy Might.
Helping Baumar and Yelina
I now head north and enter the house located at #10, home of the Matadov family. Lady Daniyarra wants to test a young girl named Yelina to see if she can be trained as a Wychlaran, but Yelina is reluctant. Daniyarra then leaves, giving me an opportunity to try and resolve the situation.
I could deliberately select dialogue options that will annoy either Baumar or Yelina, but then that means I get kicked out of the house without any xp bonus or item rewards. One option is to use a combined Lore and Wisdom check to convince Yelina that she can join her brother, who's also been taken away for magical apprenticeship. The other option which I show here is to use minor magic to convince Yelina that learning how to use magic will be fun. Once I succeed, Daniyarra returns to find a much more willing Yelina. Either method earns 1,000xp.
Yelina opens a door to say goodbye to her spirit bear friend, Misha. A chest in the room has the Ceremonial Uthgardt Belt (immunity to disease, immunity to death, +5 Fortitude saving throws). It has one enchantment slot left, so a distinct possibility is to ratchet up its Fortitude saving throws bonus to +9 and then add a Strength bonus as its fourth enchantment. This is in fact my plan for Gann, so I have him equip it.
Sobi Avalov
Next I enter the house at #6. A woman named Sobi Avalov informs me that her grandmother has been kidnapped by Hags. I cannot resolve this quest until much later.
Angry Telthors
I leave the house and then head for the fenced off area at #13. There will be two fresh graves. One grave will have a Scale Mail +4, while the other will have a Heavy Shield +3. Each time I loot one of the graves, an Angry Telthor will appear and attack the party. The first one I finish off in straight physical combat.
I next loot the other one. I have Valeria hang back, and let the others attack. Just as it's 'Near Death', I issue a 'Follow Me' command. I next have Valeria use Devour Spirit on the Telthor and fully replenish her spirit energy.
A mound at #14 has another pair of Boots of Hardiness (+3 Constitution, +3 dodge bonus to armor class), which I'll just sell. Safiya already has a pair, while Valeria, Gann, and Kaelyn will be wearing Boots of the Sun Soul instead.
For the sake of reference, the spot marked #8 on the north side of the map makes the location of another Shadow Portal that leads into Shadow Mulsantir.
Now I enter the Shadow Theater again.
