FINAL BATTLES

Nalakora and Tr'sosl Malign

Now I make my way back to the third level of the War Tower, and open the gate with the key.

I get attacked from the north by forces led by a Half-Dragon named Nalakora, and from the south by forces led by Tr'sosl Malign. I am attacked from both sides, and when all of my enemies are close, so party-friendly spells are imperative. Lady Elanna immediately casts Wail of the Banshee, and this serves to thin out the crowd. Alliria casts Tremor, and this knocks down most of the survivors. Elanna immediately follows up with Executioner's Eyes, which allows the warriors to make the most of the time when my enemies are knocked down.

Tithian started to wear the Aramite Cult Leader's ring, which was rather redundant with the Ring of Protection +3. But now I have the good fortune to have gotten another Tymora's Loop from Nalakora, so now he replaces his Ring of Protection +3 with it. And the benefits are considerable, more damage from spells, more likely to make saving throws, more likely to succeed on Evasion rolls, more damage on physical attacks, more sneak attack damage, etc.

Now only the last battle remains.

Isair and Madae

First, I take stock of what kind of preparations I'll need. Stygar memorizes at least two instances of Holy Aura, one during the first battle in which I drive Isair and Madae from the Throne Room, and the second one for the next battle when I confront them at the Pool of Radiance. Also, I memorize enough instances of Death Ward and Spell Resistance to cover every member of the party who needs it. The idea is everybody is immune to instant death magic, and will reach the maximum allowed spell resistance of 50 (as Holy Aura will stack with Spell Resistance). In this instance I don't need Spell Resistance for Lord Markus (his Holy Avenger), Akutagawa, or Tithian. I only need three instances of the spell for Stygar, Alliria, and Lady Elanna. Now a Holy Aura should bring everybody's spell resistance to 50, or very close. Everybody will also have Death Ward on themselves as well. I also pull out the last Scroll of Protection from Magic for Isair. Now I buff up to the max, including Stoneskins for everyone, Barkskin for my first four characters, as well as the first instance of Holy Aura and Mass Haste.

The battle comes in two phases. The first phase will be in the Throne Room. It will be much easier if you can bring one of the twins to near death as soon as possible, and thus convince them to leave the Throne Room. I don't use the last Scroll of Protection from Magic on Isair just yet. Lady Elanna starts off with Executioner's Eyes, and then I have my best warriors go straight after Madae. Madae is preferable, since her protections won't be harmful to me in the same way as Isair's Fire Shield. I have the rest of my party go to work on the rest of the opposition. Once the twins leave I go to work on the rest of my enemies. Buvai De'Naly will be busy summoning monsters non-stop. If his summoned creatures become too numerous, Lady Elanna casts Banishment as often as needed. This was the reason I didn't use a Mordenkainen's Sword. The Phantom Staff gives me the option to use her 7th level spell slots on other things, with this battle being a prime example. Once everybody's dead I make sure everybody is more or less at full health. I cast Holy Aura again to make sure that everybody's Spell Resistance is back up to 50, as well as Mass Haste a second time.

Now I click on the door to start the second phase at the Pool of Radiance.

Helping out Isair and Madae will be several Slayer Knights of Xvim, and two Slayers. Madae loves to make use of Blasphemy, hence why maxing out Spell
Resistance for both phases of the battle is so crucial. Lady Elanna whips out Executioner's Eyes again. Now is the time for Tithian to use the Scroll of Protection from Magic on Isair. Like the Avatar of Iyachtu Xvim, Isair will summon two Liches. Alliria also starts off with Tremor in order to knock the Slayer Knights to the ground. Stygar takes his Club of Disruption towards the Liches and Slayers, both of whom are vulnerable to disruption. Everybody else is taking out the Slayer Knights one at a time. Once they're gone, they help Stygar finish off the Liches and Slayers. Once they're all gone they cut Isair down to size and the battle will be won. The previous Executioner's Eyes wore off, so Lady Elanna puts up another one to help take down Isair faster. The battle and the game is soon won.

*THE END*
