KULDAHAR

Note that there are a number of shops around town, each dabbling in their own wares. These include Gerth's equipment shop (gems and miscellaneous stuff), Orrick's Tower (magic items), Oswald's Ship (potions), and Conlan's Smithy (weapons and armor).


Welcome to Kuldahar

Now I head east to Kuldahar to start Chapter 1. I am greeted by a little boy named Nate who informs me that somebody named Arundel wants to speak to me.


Root Cellar Tavern

Now I head east, across the bridge, north past the statue, and up in between a couple of large branches. I thus find my way to the Root Cellar Tavern.

I step inside and speak with some of the locals. One of them is a barmaid, Lysan, who has a little information on everything in town. More on her later.

Notice also a patron wearing an orange shirt on the left side. There are actually two opportunities to get xp rewards here. First, Genevieve gets around to asking him of any nearby churches, and this leads to Genevieve explaining the faith of Ilmater to him. This is the first xp reward. Next, the Druid also presses the same question about nearby churches, except that she commends him for his apparent veneration of nature. This is the second xp reward, and she also gets a gemstone for it. Note that this patron will sometimes be here in the Tavern, and sometimes on a bridge near the statue. It depends on the time of day.


Evening Shade Inn

Now I head south a little, and then north and west up a slope and find the Evening Shade Inn. The keeper, a halfling named Aldwin, seems less than friendly.

The Black Thorn goes upstairs and checks out the drawers. He finds a Studded Necklace of Zios Gems in one. He unlocks another and finds Edain's Legacy Ring. It turns out that Aldwin has been keeping a secret. So I talk to him about it and then oblige him to come clean about the secret in front of the town Elders.

I can still sleep here whenever I need to rest up.


Mirek

Now I head towards the east edge of town, where a couple of Yeti are attacking a local named Mirek. I have only Genevieve and Halagrim, since they've each advanced a level, take on the Yeti up close. The rest hang back with missile fire. Once that is done, I agree to find a missing heirloom for Mirek.


Arundel

Now I speak with Arundel to get background information. He also quests me to try and discover if the evil threatening Kuldahar is in the nearby Vale of Shadows.
